I prefer to use Texas toast myself, which is really just very thick white bread.

I'm starving now. Thanks. ;)

I got a kick-butt recipe from Bobby Flay for Peanut Butter and Banana stuffed French Toast. It is to die for!!

1/4 c. heavy cream
4 eggs
1 Tbsp Vanilla
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
splash of Rum (if you have it- I don't add it)
6 slices of bread
peanut butter
bananas
honey
confectioner's sugar

Mix all ingredients together until blended well and place in a shallow pan (I use a casserole dish). Spread peanut butter lightly on both sides of bread. Place thin slices of banana on every other slice of bread. Sprinkle honey on the slices that don't have banana. Combine the slices to make a sandwich, place in mixture then turn. Place on hot skillet or griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes or until brown. Turn and repeat. Cover with butter, confectioner's sugar and/or maple syrup and enjoy. :)

I hate french toast.

But after reading this thread, especially Renee's sourdough suggestion.. it sounds pretty darn good.

I use cinnamon bread instead of plain ol' bread. And instead of milk, I use the flavored coffee creamer that you get in the refrigerated dairy section of the grocery store. Extremely rich and creamy with some great flavor. I usually use the caramel/vanilla flavored ones.

It makes the best French toast EVER!

Drat. Now I'm craving French toast.
