I can't read the scribble - its a bit small now that you resized.
?

I didn't resize anything. Is there not a full-size image a several posts up? Is it not still big in the drop box folder?

Hell I have a 2600x3000 or some such resolution version if that'll help :p Just made it reasonably small for posting here.

Oh hey, I was re-reading all the information from before to make sure I'd gotten it all and noticed the part where you said Stettfield and HaBfurt were both located in Bavaria, which rang a bell.

On my main genealogy document (where I'm putting all the bits and pieces and notes together), I have a note where it just says "Staddfelt, Bavaria". Now Staddfelt and Stettfeld are pretty close together (in spelling). I'm not sure where Staddfelt came from but I'm guessing it was a relative who miswrote it. Will have to find exactly where I got that....anyways to the point: is Staddfelt perhaps a more....uh, don't know how to put it. A more 'true' translation of Stettfield? To me it very clearly says Stettfeld at the bottom on the transcript BUT the Staddfelt bit might not have come off this document, they may have gotten it else where. There's been about 5 of us who've picked up (and 4 so far who've given up) on deciphering our origins so who knows where the Staddfelt came from. But I'm just curious if there could be any more direct connection other than a misprint on our part.

Thats interesting! Staddfelt does sound the like the Englishized version of Stettfeld - seeing as the is not Staddfelt in Germany (maps ^^)

Only PA I know of is Pennsylvania.

On a side note: Germany's kicking Argentina's ass.

Hrm...interesting.

Wish I knew all the context this stuff was used in other than just sticky notes. I know he lived in (or near maybe) New York for two years after immigrating, and the Friedenstal, PA (though actually it was just a road I found, but I imagine a city could've once been there, dunno) is pretty close to NY (by today's standards, that is), so I guess it's possible...though there is a Friedensthal in Germany, but it's just a road I found as well (in a national park). Blurg.

Curse you ancestors and your mottled past! Proper, legible documentation **** it! *shakes fist*
