That's a good option if the Humane Society does it for free. Ours charges a fee

ETA: It is absolutely not right that the pet store is allowing the rabbit to suffer. Although I would imagine they will euthanize her if she doesn't improve, since she's not going to be of use to them as a breeder and I'd imagine that, if they are keeping a rabbit as a breeder, they're pretty focused on profit.

But it's also not appropriate for someone to take in another animal, even for euthanasia, when that $40 (for example) could go to food or a vet visit for the 60+ rats.

I'm sure though if she just brings the bunny and explains the situation, they would wave the fee. Not like it's her rabbit after all. I know the local SPCA takes in anything, no refusing for any reason and they will put down the ones that aren't adoptable for different reasons, without going public with where the animals came from. They may investigate based on what the situation is but at least the bunny wouldn't be suffering.

I already reported it. And yes, it would be a bit difficult since I have no money for gas much less having it PTS, but I will go get her tomorrow and take her to the animal shelter to be PTS. If I just drop her off, what else are they going to do, ya know? If they're in their right minds they will euthanize her whether I pay for it or not. I don't doubt they'll just give her to me, so I'll deal with that tomorrow.

I think she might be afraid that if she "tells" then they won't let her around at all to hall the animals or something like that.
Actually, I stated in my original post I would be reporting them, so I'm not sure where this is coming from

I guess this is a situation where your hands are tied. You have assured them that you will not tell anyone and if you do, you will no longer be able to help other animals in the pet shop. However, the poor bunny needs help. As they refused to get the bunny to a vet then it would just be right to report them to the proper authorities.

I'm glad you were able to figure out a way to help that poor bunny without putting any more stress on your financial situation. I know it would have really upset you if you hadn't been able to.
