I've always found it fun to try and figure out what breeds are in a dog. Usually I'm not too bad at it but this time around I'm having a hard time. Little miss here is hopefully going to be in my posession come Christmas, however the spca here is horrid and they are not only constantly rude they drag out the adoption process. I've already had one bad run in with them when trying to adopt a dog but I really adore this little girl. She's 25lbs and they don't have any suggestions in whats in her, she was dumped at the spca with a note on her collar that said "Sydney".

The only reason I want to say Border Collie is in her somewhere is her coloring. Any suggestions?

It's an awkward picture but from the top her body looks kind of BC....I'd probably guess BC X hound mix, but it would be easier to tell with some side pictures.

Can you visit her? Her behavior may tell you more about her background than coloring. Bounce a ball and see what happens. Most hunting or herding dogs will alert on it, even if they prefer to give you their attention. Three balls bouncing is more tempting, and a herding dog will try to keep the balls together. But, the dog has to be comfortable enough in the room and with you to see it's nature. Even then, you may have to get her home and comfortable first.

She had no interest in any toys. But I suppose it doesn't matter anymore.

They let us take her out for an hour so the boyfriend brought her over to meet me at work. Figured it would be a good spot to see her personality as its a pet store with all those interesting smells, people and dogs. She attempted to attack another dog. I let it slide, thinking maybe she's just wound up as they don't get exercised and are in crates at the spca. Well the boyfriend brought her back after the hour and when he walked into the shelter she went after another dog and almost bit him in the face. The staff when into panic and then looked at the boyfriend after they scooped her away and said "by the way she may have some dog aggression". WTF! We told them there were other dogs in the home and they didn't feel the need to tell us this then!? No, they'd rather have us adopt her and have her attack our dogs or someone else's dog. Lousy bunch of people!

I was beyond angry and told the boyfriend to call them and tell them we were no longer interested in her as we had our own dogs to think of first and weren't going to put them at risk or Sydney at risk and how they must be idiots to not disclose something like that when they were 100% aware that she was going to go to a home with other dogs. Only not so nicely. Boyfriend hasn't a mean bone in his body, but he went down there and gave them a what for. You think they gave a sorry or anything? Nope. They just told us we would never be allowed to adopt a dog from them ever and ended it at that. Fine by me. That's twice now I've attempted to adopt a dog from there. The first one they drug the process out and then euthed her because she ran out of time despite the fact I was trying to adopt her. I was raging all day, nothing nice to say about those people at all.

I'm so upset, she was an absolute darling and I so fell in love with her. I just can't take on a dog with DA, not when I have two dogs of my own plus the boyfriend's dog being put at risk. :( Poor Sydney.
