Hi all! Long time no post - but I read! We got a new rescue baby. In these pictures she is 8 weeks old and about 6.5 pounds. What do you think about breeds or eventual size?

Thanks for weighing in!

Oh, wow, she's cute! Her face reminds me of a Collie in the second pic, and her coat texture reminds me of a Lab pup. So my breed guess- Collie/Lab. Size, well, she's a little smaller than Caleb was at that age, so I'll say adult weight around 55-60 pounds.
Hey, you forgot to tell us her name. :)

I sure did, didn't I? Her name is Indy Soleil : ) She's a little buddy for our big girl (3 years old) Luna Bela.

She is adorable!
I see some collie in that face and ears.
I see lab in the color.
But there could be a few breeds in that cute little body of hers.

I'm going to be contrary because the weight at 8 weeks is about what my Beagle pups are, and looking at the lack of really big knuckling on her forelegs...that she will be smallish...at around 30lbs full grown.

I would buy sheltie X or BC X for those reasons.

Interesting replies : )

The vet thinks she is a lab/husky mix. The rescue thinks lab/shepherd. Friends have said jack russell, collie, etc. as well : )

She got to visit the beach for the first time this week and had a blast digging

I don't know what she could be as I'm horrible at breed guessing, but I doubt she'll get any larger than 45lbs as an adult (if she even reaches that much). She's very cute. :)

She's got huge paws. Collie/lab would be my first guess, but one of the terriers or shepherd is possible. I'm going to guess she will be AT LEAST 35 lbs, and likely more, 55-65, but potentially a bit larger than that. I'd adopt her to someone who likes surprises!

Edit: Ah, I just realized you're keeping her . . .I hope YOU like surprises!

And she's just DARLING!

Well, she changes every day! It's quite a mystery what she is going to look like. A closeup as of yesterday:

Awwww. No clue on the breed, but I'd say 55-60lb personally... Tips was 7lb at 8 weeks (although very thin) and is 60lb now.

I saw JRT in the face and ears in the 1st pic, so I thought lab/JRT mix. I don't see GSD in the pup at all but who knows. 6-7lbs at 8 weeks is about half what Gunnar was at that age, so I'd guess 40-50lbs adult weight.
