Hey guys, I'm just looking for some good dog behavior type books. Here's a few good ones I've read already:
The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson (just finished it)
The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell
How to be the Leader of the Pack by Patricia McConnell
Canine Body Language by Brenda Aloff

And these two are on their way to me:
Click to Calm by Emma Parsons
On Talking Terms With Dogs: Calming Signals by Turid Rugaas

I'd love some recommendations of other good ones that aren't going to be the same basic stuff as what I've already read. I'm really interested in going past regular training and more into dogs behavior with other dogs and with people, maybe some rehabilitation stuff if there's any good ones on it (behavior rehab, not physical).

Thanks! :)

Some others I've read:
"Bones Would Rain from the Sky" by Suzanne Clothier. This one is about building a bond with your dog and how training can help or hurt that bond. She uses some case examples which I always love in a dog behavior/training/psychology book.

An in depth book I read was called "For the Love of a Dog" by Patricia McConnell and was primarily about dog emotions, that fast that they do indeed have them and how we know that based on their brain structure and body language (including facial expressions which are quite similar to ours). She talks about how knowing the emotional state of the dog is important for helping change his behavior. As always she uses many case examples and talks about her own dogs too.

Karen Pryor has a new book called "Reaching the Animal Mind" which has to do with how ALL animals learn and how clicker training works on all animals based on simple learning rules. It's mainly made up of case examples. It shows why clicker training works as well as it does and makes such enthusiastic learners even when compared to dogs trained with positive reinforcement but without the clicker.

Thanks Maxy! I'm trying to remember if I've read "For the Love of a Dog"... I'll definitely get it if I haven't. I'll check out the other ones too. I'm not completely sold on clicker training which is why I haven't looked into Karen Pryor books as much. I mean, I've seen it works fast and all but I always found it a bit of a pain to have to have this extra little tool and try to juggle that with the dog's leash and treats. It sounds silly but I feel like I only just have enough hands when doing outside stuff. I'll still look into the book though, I'm sure clicker training at least has its place with certain dogs that don't respond to other things - so it's good to have other options!

I just got the book "Animal Training" by Ken Ramirez and have begun reading it, it's fantastic. Lots of short case studies and examples that make it easy to read, yet very advanced. It's quite long and quite expensive, though.
