My neighbor has a puppy (a bit over 13 weeks) and asked if there was a specific age ti start basic obedience, nothing that awould overwhelm the puppy, Comet. And I honestly don't know if there is or not. Is ther an age you should get your puppy into an obedience class? By the way, this is my neighbor's first dog.

I start training puppies as soon as they can walk, and I recommend puppy class as soon as they will let you in.

Your friend should ask around the area and find out what ages they allow puppies in puppy kindergarten or beginner classes.

Most places will start a dog that is at least 8 weeks old. My mentor/boss recommends starting puppies on basic stuff at 7-10 weeks old. (Breeders will start other things early, but for the new owners) Just remember to have their shots done first!

It is good to wait until the puppy has had all of the required shots at 16 weeks before taking it to classes with other dogs.
