I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have a border collie, who on his own likes to bark a lot, at birds, squirrels, etc. However, our neighbour has 2 dogs, who also like to bark A LOT. Like any good dog owner, when our dog barks we bring him inside. But these dogs bark all the time, no matter what time of day. Yesterday they barked for 3 hours, no exaggeration! It was the afternoon, so there is not too much that we can say, but it is still very frustrating, because my dog gets really wound up and barks and whines when they're barking. I don't want to be a rude neighbour and call or go over and ask them to put their dogs in, we had a neighbour from the other side of our house complain about our dog and he was very rude about it, immediately calling us the moment he began barking, and not saying very nice things to us. We have a 2 year old child, and so it is not always possible to run to the door as soon as he starts barking, but we do our best. Anyway, I was just wondering if there is anything I can do. The only thing that I can come up with is a dog whistle, but I am not sure if that would cause them to bark more or work in my favour. I know that they are more for training, but I thought that it might get their attention or something. At least to make them quiet for a little while. I don't want to seem like a bad neighbour, and we could also use the whistle for training our dog! Does anyone think this will work?
