I really need some help. I posted about the Corgi that showed up on my doorstep. I haven't found the owners. I am supposed to go home to my parents tomorrow, but I can't as long as I still have her. She is the sweetest thing, and I cannot let her go live in a cage so I will not take her to a shelter. I want to find her a good home, but I don't really know how.

She is probably about 4 or 5, and the lady at the vet thinks she is spayed. She is not micro chipped and didn't have a collar. She won't eat dry dog food though. She is very content to just sit next to you and be loved on. She doesn't really 'play'. She is potty trained. She isn't trick trained, but she is not very active and she understands "no". She acts somewhat scared sometimes. We really don't want her going to a shelter and passing her around a lot and everything since she is already that way. And she cannot live in a cage because she is soo sweet and can't go without lots of love everyday.

Unfortunately I can't keep her. My sister has fell in love with her, but she is due in November to have a baby and she doesn't think they will be able to have a dog and a baby. I can't afford to keep her right now because Justin and I together already have 3 dogs and are looking for a house to buy and such.

She really, really needs a good home. I just don't know what to do.

I don't live in an area where there are many breed rescues. The only one I know of is a MinPin one. I tried to contact an animal rescue place here where the animals stay in foster homes, and then several are taken to petsmart on weekends, but they haven't gotten back to me.

Too bad I'm not closer... I would totally take her in and find her a home. >;.;<
where in colorado are you located? I have relatives in Colorado and where my parents live is only about 4-5 hours away from Pueblo. I could so get her there if someone was willing to take her there.

I am in the Denver area. Also, I rent my house, but my landlord says she trusts me enough to watch a dog for a month or so (from a previous event lmao).

Ok, you said she is potty trained. Is she house trained overall, and how does she react to a crate or an ex-pen? How does she act on a leash? How does she react to being groomed? How vocal is she? Is she vaccinated, HW tested, dewormed? Did the vet say anything about medical issues? Just in case I do this, I need to know what to expect lol...

I can pick her up in Pueblo if that's what you meant. >^^;<

If I do this, I will be contacting my nearest corgi rescue to help me find her a home, but I will foster her while they look.

What part of TX are you in, Zoe? As for rescues, I know that there is Corgi & Critters, which has two locations, in Houston and Big Sandy. There is also North Texas Corgi Rescue, in Highland Village, and Central (now CorgiDane) in San Antonio.

I am in the panhandle. Colorado is closer than most of those. I don't know where Big Sandy and Highland Village are but Dallas is like 6 hours away. If you have numbers of contact info, I could talk to them maybe and see how things would work. I definitely want her to be in a home, no cages. I would like to keep her til I found her a home if I could, because I feel bad putting her through a bunch of different places, because she is still getting used to us here and still acts afraid sometimes.

Cheetah, yes we could meet in Pueblo. That way I could spend a day or 2 with my grandmother. I haven't put her in a crate, she might whine a little bit, I don't know. But she spends most of her time under my desk.

She has jumped on the couch a couple times when I was sitting there. She doesn't really play with toys or anything, so I don't think she would try chewing on anything, she hasn't here.

I haven't gotten her tested or vaccines or anything yet. I just took her in to see if she was micro chipped. But she doesn't act sick in anyway. I think when I found her she was a little dehydrated, but is getting better now that she has water available at all times.

I haven't done much grooming. I will try that tomorrow and see how she reacts.

She barks when there are other dogs barking. But she hasn't barked inside the house. I am more worried that she might whine. The first night she spent in the garage cuz I wanted to keep her and Zoe separated, she whined all night. But since then I have left her and Zoe together and she hasn't been whining.

I think breed rescues almost always rely on fostering. If you manage to find a rescue close to you who can foster her, that's good too. >^_^<

Fantastic news!!! Oh! This is just great. I bet you're so relieved. Yes, pictures would be great when she gets settled. Well done for finding her a home.
