They are dominant over other animals, and wary of strangers, but they should never be aggressive. It's true that some will nip at your heels if your running, but usually only the working ACDs do that
Well, yes and no. Dominance is not really the word to be used here, as it infers that the dog is actually plotting to gain the upper in the social heirachy. I would desribe it as an awareness of other animals, which of course stems from the dogs extensive use as a shepherd. Also, the nipping is not aggression, some people misconstrue it as such. Cattles can be wary of strangers, but I tend to only see this wariness in farm raised dogs. Urban ones can be almost lab like in their love of people!
