Since getting my dog I am becoming quite the discriminating poop bag connoisseur.
I have found free poop bags in places I never realized poop bags existed. But not all poop bags are the same.
On my regular walk around the marina and beach park there are five poop bag dispensers. They carry two types of bags. The cheesy thin blue ones with the handles and some rugged sack shaped black ones. What's up with the handled ones? The bags are so thin that on a cold morning the fresh contents feel disgustingly warm. It feels as though the bag may melt any second. And the handles; they just rob you of available stock to tie a proper knot. I always pass on the blue bag dispensers and hold out for the much more substantial black bags.
Near where I work I pass a dispenser which seems to have the Cadillac of all poop bags. Heavy white plastic with, get this, a second layer of material in the bottom (black) formed into a pocket. The bags are long enough for a good knot also. I call these the black and white bags.
And speaking of retrieval technique; Does anybody have any tips for retrieving the little gifts from long grass or asphalt. I've found both of these operating environments to be very problematic, especially on those "soft" days. Is it best to try to get beneath the target and lift it clear or to envelop the droppings from the top? Oh, and do you have better luck retrieving the small pieces first or do you go straight for the big ones? CeCe is is a creeping squatter so I usually have to deal with multiple targets in a line.
Any other sage wisdom about poop bags out there?
