I think we need to devise a test to be able to tell if a dog is real or not.

Kind of like the way they tested the witches in Monty Python...

Do real dogs float or sink?

well I am not going to go into play mode anymore gang. Dizzy thinks it is wrong.
I just said it's a bit like ACooper being laughed at because she feeds raw, and people didn't understand her opinion and made her feel humiliated.

You were all behind her, making sure she felt better and making sure she just ignored those who laughed at her opinions...

And then procede to have not one, but two threads off the back of what someone said, that noone agreed with, and... wait.. laughed at.

Just seems a tiny bit hypocritical.

That is all. By no means stop while you're having fun ;)

I think the difference is the potential of that quote to be offensive, coupled with the more offensive imo quote about our dogs being decorations. But at least we love them, how sweet. She even added she thought it would be offensive.

I think it's a good thing we can all laugh it off and have fun. OC can have her opinion, but we all can have our opinion of her opinion.

LOL..... I couldn't ever picture Belle with a "job".

It took her two months just to learn "sit".

and the "job" she is designed to do she wouldnt be able to do because she would be terrified of the gun shot. she even gets scared when she knocks something off the table and it makes a noise lol. she's just too sensitive. AND it was actually stipulated in her adoption contract that she NOT be used for hunting purposes.

But none the less.... she has a job. Alert me to bugs in the house..... keep the floor clean from crumbs..... and .... uh.... "water" the lawn. LOL she also keeps the yard clear from squirrels.... until she gets distracted.

Of course you can :)

Just be glad there aren't 2 threads about your opinion, and make sure you watch what you say in future, or there may be!

I'm all for opinions (surely people know that by now - after all, I am expressing mine right here. again!) but I don't really like to see belittling or bullying either.. And I know if I was OC, I'd feel a bit hurt. Maybe she doesn't care - who knows. Very cliquey behaviour.

Like I said - carry on, I'm just throwing an idea around.

I dunno, maybe I can't imagine why in the world you'd say something like that unless you wanted to start a scuffle but that's just me. Like I've said before, I expect respect when it comes to what I do with my dogs, and I try to give it out in return.

I have not said a thing about anyone's care for their dog or keeping dogs outside or whatever. However statements about decorations I see as rude and I will comment back. Just the way I am, I don't sugar coat much. Could be bad to some, but not to me.

It's been in her sig for WEEKS, if not months. I imagine if she wanted to start a scuffle, she'd have started a thread about it.

She's 18, give her a break!

Poking fun is all fine and well, when the person you're laughing about is laughing along to. Otherwise, it's just sort of cruel.

I didn’t take offence to OC’s signature statement. I know different people have different ideas when it comes to dogs and most might think of my dogs as nothing but ornamental decoration. It doesn’t mean I feel the same way about them, they are all dogs to me and what I think about them is all that matters. I’m able to poke fun at the thought of others thinking they are decorations, as others here have. I think it help take out a bit of steam too for some, nothing wrong with that.

Plus I've known OC for a few years now and I know she’s a tuff cookie and hope this didn’t offend her. I know how much she cares about her dogs and certain breeds and I know that my breeds aren’t her cup of tea but I know that wouldn’t stop her from giving them a special scratch and pet if ever we met eachother.

And in 60 odd pages, you're the 1st person to say that (I did read ALOT of them the other day).

Yes, and it's been annoying some people for that whole time. Someone posted and kaboom. It's what happens at times.

I don't know, I don't need other people's approval about my dogs, I have no problem with OC's views. I just don't share them.

See, I don't know OC all that well. Perhaps I read into the sig wrong. That's a risk you take.

Besides this thread isn't really about a person to me, it's about the statement. One which I find silly and don't agree with. So hence the humor.

That's not my point really... Maybe I am the only person who sees the hypocrisy in it in relation to how people expect people to behave, then behave themselves.

I know I keep going back to it, but ACoopers thread, in relation to this one.

Someone comments, someone disagrees/laughs at comment - you all feel sorry for them.

Someone comments, someone disagrees/laughs at comment - you practically spend 3 days poking fun at said persons comment, and have 2 threads on it.

Anyway, that was all. I'm pretty sure if OC had an issue with it, she would say.

So in the meantime, poke fun till your hearts are content ;)

Dizzy... I think the problem here is that a lot of people feel as though OC was the one belittling the way the rest of us treat our dogs. Not everyone agrees with the way she treats her dogs, but no one has ever said anything.
Yet she felt the need to comment on everyone elses dogs being decorations.

Honestly, the initial quote never even caught my attention and I probably would have taken it with a grain of salt had I seen it.

But having her come on and say our dogs are decorations definitly got my attention. I interact with my dogs for the majority of the day and to me they are far from decorations.

I dont talk about the way other people treat their animals, even when I see things I dont like, so I dont think other people should be belitting mine or anyone elses here.

I think there is a huge difference. Apples and oranges.

Someone makes a non-offensive comment in an honest attempt to be helpful....and gets laughed at. That's uncalled for.

Someone makes a potentially insulting and derrogatory comment, with clear knowledge that many people will find it insulting.....and gets laughed at. I can't really fault that. And frankly, with some of the fiery tempers on this board, it could have gotten a lot uglier and nastier than a few jokes.

I see your point.

Though, I still think 60 plus pages and one whole NEW thread highlighting the fact that she has outdoor dogs, is a bit extreme on the poor lass.

:hail: What I was trying to say only worded 1000x better. Same thing with Gempress, though I have not read the other thread.

When you insult about 95% of people on the board, what do you expect. I honestly was proud of the way most handled it. It could have been much nastier if some of us said exactly what we were feeling.

I think people need to learn to "get over it" LOL
