Thanks I edited it ..
FoxFire Jlo is my dog bred by me handled and owned by us.

What happens in the USA for Rare breed is many of the judges dont know breed type. So if you go to a Rare breed show you may be judged by a AKC Collie judge and win Best in Show. Then the competition says " they are not experts so she is crap so on and so forth" So you could get a title under judges who have only seen one of your breed.

So we took the breed UKC they have to at least understand the standard before going into the ring. This year marked the most amount of CAS shown in UKC.

So now why the "excellent" after we won every rare breed title and win we needed to get some real experts opinions to qualify our breeding on the same playing field the big boys due in europe where the judges see the US rare breed daily.

So we started to travel far and wide to get FCI experts to judge our foundation stock vs AKC or UKC.

FCI is Europe AKC here is their site http://www.fci.be

In Europe they rate the dogs the following ~

Excellent :is allowed to win BOB BOS and get CAC or Cacib
Very Good :is not allowed to advance for BOB Competition but is still considered Breeding just a few too many faults

Good and Fair are not breeding ratings.

When a FCI judges comes here they Critique the dog in writing to tell you the good and bad points to help you understand as a new breeder to a rare breed for the USA what matches to make in breeding.

Here is a critique from a FCI officer they break down every inch of the dog in those formats and then add comments and give a over all rating.,
http://www.casdog.com/photopost/data/645/scan0001.jpg

This above dog has been rated by FCI experts 20x Excellent or very promising
(highest pup rating)

Hope that helps?

Interesting how that system works! It seems a LOT lesser quality dogs wouldn't get the chance to ever be bred.

Yes i agree the system is better for understanding the quality of the breeds.
However competition is still hard to find in rare breeds thru out the world with the exception of the home land of the breed.

So FCI will award Cacs that will add up to a Title without beating another dog instead just rating it againest the standard.
They do require all dogs to be over 12 months so pups dont get titled.
So like all other systems it has its good points and bad points.

I personally prefer a FCI Central Asian Shepherd expert rating of Excellent over a any US Best in Show it mean that what we are doing for the working breed is preserving the breed vs changing it to win allot of shows.

IF we were to change the degree of angulation to match lets say a boxer or a corso we would win more shows - but change the working ability of the dogs.

Back in the COld war Russia adopted this breed from its native lands and required all dogs to WORK be tested for WORK and be evaluted to a written standard ONE time a year under Russian experts .

No Best in shows just kinda like Breed wardens from Germany they breed generations of excellent working dogs not changed by modern society.

Then once free enterprise came the dog breeding took a turn for the worse. :(

Thanks all .
And to clarify I was NOT using the term as it relates to Registration since the question related to what "excellent is "which is how FCI does their titles vs more common AKC knowledge.
Thanks for pointing that out for me:0

I used it to make reference to how AKC does champion ships vs FCI who does govern all the FCI countries TITLES NOT Registrations

FCI is on top of the pryamid per say they approve countries of origins standards and set forth title requirements and regulations for the judges they also have the famous World dog shows.

But when it comes to registrations they pick one Club per FCI approved country to issue paper work with the FCI logo on it.
( note some countries do have clubs outside of FCI approval)

So you will see me use the term RKF which is short for the Russian FCI approved club that issues pedigrees for all breeds in Russia and holds championships under FCI rules.

So FCI RKF Excellent is a FCI judge that has been qualified to judge my breed at a national level within Russia...

Ive shown CKC AKC UKC RBSCWO Molosser ARBA Rarities and each club has different rules for classes , requirements .
The one i like the best is FCI rule that they to be over one year to finish.
Molosser clubs and RBCSWO has this. But the other clubs do not.

Ive had cute pups win best in show and fall apart later .
