I say "HERE!" too... it's much more formal and a place command. I overuse come. :/

I think how I say it is way more effective than what I say, and the look I give them!

And Out. Because usually the disaster is a "leave it" or "out". LOL

I do whistle for quick attention when playing and ask for a platz to evaluate a situation.

It really depends.

I'll ether say their name or

'OY'

'GET HERE'

'321!'

'I suggest you stop!'

I tend not to have energy situations though. Haven't had one in a LONG time.

I do sometimes say, "Get back here/Stop that RIGHT NOW or I'm going to punch you in your little dog head!!!"

"SIT!" for some reason seems to mean I'm serious. Like he typically attempts to run from me before being bathed, but once I give him the eye and the finger along with 'sit' he seems to know "oh crap, guess I can't get out of this one!"

Otherwise "CHEESE" tends to do the trick.

STOP!

It's kind of a 'stop moving, drop it, spit it out, leave it alone' command. XD Yoshi usually drops in to a sit or a lay down when I yell it.

If I still have my wits about me, the usual default is "leave it" or "sit", depending on what is going on.

In a panic situation, though, I typically resort to, "HEY!!!"

I admit, I use "Come touch" for Bailey a lot, too. It works really well when she's spooked and in that 'flight' mode, which happens less and less all the time, but it still happens :)

I make a clicking noise with my mouth. It was never intentionally taught but basically means come/look at me/give me your attention. I ended up using it because it's discreet which is ideal because I generally need to get his attention quickly when we have people over he wants to eat. So instead of suddenly saying commands while our guests are talking to my parents I can make my little clicky noise and he stops staring, pulling, whatever at them and looks at me. I don't call it to the guests attention that my dog wants them to die and I'm trying my hardest to keep his dreams from coming true. Plus it's unemotional, my clicky noise cannot sound angry or stressed or scared.

It basically just means I'm about to shove treats in your mouth, but has resulted in amazing focus. Whenever I see other people trying to get their dog's attention I am so thankful for how quickly Tucker's head whips towards me when I click.

"Hey!"
"ArghgetbackherenowhywouldyouARGH!"
"Don't even think about... NO!"

I am guilty of all of those. Seriously though, I don't have one go to command. I have a bunch, and they vary on the situation and which dog is in question. "Hey, come check this out," invariably brings them all over to investigate. If they are already close by, "sit." If it's Chewy and I want her attention, then it's, "sit, give me your paw, other paw," back and forth for a little bit.

Sit. It's the only command my dogs know. Chloe doesn't even always do it, lol! Violet's great at sit, though. She's had to sit to go out, for a treat, to get her leash on, etc since she was just a puppy, so she's had tons of practice.

My idea of panic is usually very calm. I get almost zen like in the face of terror.

But my default commands in a situation that might call for panic vary depending on the dog's strongest behavior.

Morgan is "here", Tyr is his name, Nyx is no command or her name followed by me walking away.

Or I just announce that I'm running away from home. Which has yet to work at all, but threatening them feels so good sometimes.

Usually GUYS! or DOGS! which when I'm actually dead serious seems to translate as "stop" and/or "come here." But when I'm just annoyed at them acting for like goofballs it doesn't work as well, so there's obviously some input from tone and such. Squash and Pip usually respond fairly well to whistling, too.

If I've got my wits about me sometimes I'll yell WHO WANTS BONEYS? which usually brings them running.
