What command do you tend to resort to when you panic?

Mine is always down. It doesn't always help but I've always worked hardest on teaching a down and I usually teach it first. Unfortunately it's become sloghtly over used and I really need to do some retraining of it.

So what's your favourite command?

Come. I've worked on it a lot and continuously reward come almost every time. I can barely get the word out of my mouth and they whip their heads around to me.

Or wait. (stop and look at me)

"THOMAS!"
it's the cat's name.
Which they believe to mean there is about to be some cat food being served out OR the cat is getting attention and we are not.
It works lol more-so than come or sit at this point.

"GET BACK HERE RIGHT THIS SECOND SO I CAN KILL YOU DEAD!!!!"
My version of that is "I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU TO DEATH WITH A SHOVEL!!!"

With Gusto, 'lie down' is generally my default.

"Sit!"

It worked with Blackie and Rose, and it works with Chloe. Yey for push button sits!

Or "Get back/off/over here!" works pretty well, too. lol

Sit.

Which somehow translates to 'down'? Zander's new favorite command is down. He offers it constantly.

Maddie definitely "leave it!" lol although "scoot over" (on the couch or bed) is probably a tie :D
Bailey's is "Down!" verbally OR just the hand signal, and I know I overuse it. But its so useful... lol... and since we worked so hard at down at a distance I can do it anytime, anywhere and she does it insanely fast

STOP and I mean on a dime and they all know it. It means when your chasing that rabbit toward the road, it means when your doing something your not suppose to do, freeze, cease, and desist. It means when a car is coming and we are on leash, they also know over. Come would be second.

Usually their name and a "GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!" if it's truly panic.

Otherwise, my default command is "Let's go!" or "Go lay down". Those are the two I find myself saying the most. Sometimes without thinking I accidentally say both of those in a frustrated voice too if I want them to hurry quick, which is something I hate that I do, because obviously it works so much better if I say it in my usually happy dog voice.

When I say Zander's name in a panicky voice he thinks it's play time and runs off. :dunno:
