Wow...that is pretty nasty. She is one lucky dog though. It could have been so much worse. It does look clean though and neat. I bet it will heal up well. Give her an extra cookie for me.

Poor thing. Careful, if her JRT parentage runs true she will be VERY stoic. Its easy to let them do too much as they just dont' tell you they are hurting. Silly monsters.

Also watch for issues later. IME animals that have had traumatic experiences often are fine for a bit right after and THEN have a reaction. I had a horse who was hit by a minivan. She was fine for a few months, I thought we had escaped a fear of vehicles. Nope one day it was like it 'clicked' and she would practically climb a tree if she saw anything between a mid sized car or pick up truck.

Poor girl. Im glad she is all settled.

Teagan was attacked a few summers ago. It shook her up a little and was really needy for a few days after, but I never coddled her and we were camping at the time so after rushing her into the E vet we had to go back to camp and deal with being around the other dogs (which I kept away from her, but they were around) I shoud add Teagan never had any reactive/scared issues after.

Poor baby! It makes me so angry when people let there DA dogs run around off leash around other dogs!!! They clearly knew their dog was a problem by your OP.

I would not suggest this. If you pick her up every time you see a dog, you are coddling her fear if any is there, and it will just get worse and worse, because you are rewarding her for fear.

I would do the treating from a distance. Dogs = something really REALLY yummy. Heck, I'd even make it a certain treat that she *only* gets around other dogs

Ahhh, I didn't even consider she might be fearful after the incident. Terriers here - fear is not a recognized emotion in my house LOL and more often than not they're trying to get at the attacking dog just as hard. No, I definitely wouldn't suggest picking her up if she is afraid.

Thanks everyone. She is seeming much better today. She is going to be on strict bed rest and short walks until I come back!
Whilst she is with my mum I'm going to suggest they pick her up when other dogs are in viewpoint, just for safteys sake! When I come back I will start working on this!
