Okay, so I'm intrigued. There are lots of different models though, and none of them are cheap. Which one do I want to get? Is the "Mia 2" better than the "Mia" for a $50 price difference? The "Aria"?
The Mia is the travel version and it's what I have, because it was the cheapest at the time and I believe still is. The Mia 2 is basically a souped-up version of the Mia. They are smaller than the regular Clarisonic and can only use the face brush - the regular Clarisonic is the only one that can use the larger body brush attachment. I believe it's now called the Clarisonic PLUS.
The Aria is a bit larger than the Mia in size as far as the handle goes, but still can only use the face brushes.
The Mia/Mia 2 both have a pretty long battery life since they are intended to be "travel" versions. It's supposedly 20 minutes, which at 60 seconds per use is 20 uses. I'm pretty sure mine has gone for more than 20 uses.
The Aria is supposed to have a 30 minute battery life. Also the default charger is a USB charger, but it comes with a wall adapter you snap on.
The PLUS also supposedly has a 30 minute battery life with the face brush and 28 with the body brush, if you use them combined (face, then body) it will eat up your battery life faster. My mom has a PLUS and she's never been happy with the battery life, but I think it might be defective. I tried to use it once (with the body brush) and the battery was dead so I've never personally used it. I do know a lot of people with the PLUS use it, then put it back down on the charger, so they just keep it fully charged all the time.
The Mia only has one speed, and you push the button and it runs for 60 seconds, then stops. (You can also push the button again and turn it off manually if you don't want to use it for the full 60 seconds - but I always do.)
The Mia 2 has two speeds, "low" and normal. Really, the Mia 2 is the one you will find most often in stores now. The Mia 2 also has the T-Timer... so it runs for 60 seconds but beeps indicating it's time to move to another part of your face.
The Aria (and PLUS) has all three speeds - low, normal, and high - and the T-Timer as well.
Honestly I would probably buy the Mia again if I could (
look at it eeeeeeee!) I've been totally happy with it and I can't see myself wanting the two speeds. Also I sort of like the lack of a T-Timer because it doesn't beep at me telling me it's time to move. DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO CLARISONIC. But those are features that other people would probably like just fine and it's worth it.
Oh, also the Mia 2 comes with a travel case thingie now. A white case that's shaped like the Mia 2 and the Mia snaps in there. For mine, I just keep the brush head cover and snap it back on when I'm done using it, and when I travel, I put it in a bag with my other face cleansing goodies. It's been fine. But the case is kinda neat haha.
The Aria is nice if you want more options and a longer battery life but I would say for most people the Mia 2 is plenty. Only get the PLUS if you want the body brush. That's literally the only reason to buy that one. My mom wanted to use it for dry, rough skin on her legs, so that's why she bought the PLUS.
I REALLY love mine. My experience has been like this: I had been wanting one but was put off by the price. I came into some extra money so decided I would take a chance at it, because it had a 90 day satisfaction guarantee. I planned to use it and if it didn't help my acne I was going to return it and get my money back.
Well, I started using it. The FIRST thing I noticed was my skin was RIDICULOUSLY soft after using it. I mean so soft I wanted to keep touching my face, it was crazy. So I kept using it and using it. But I didn't notice a difference in my acne. I was kind of bummed out... so I stopped using it for a while. I think I actually went to a dog show and left it behind, so I didn't use it for four or five days. I BROKE OUT LIKE CRAZY. When I got home and went back to using it my break out went away. So I think it DID help my acne and I just didn't notice it because I was expecting 100% cure, a miracle. It didn't do that, but it DID help since when I stopped using it things got noticeably worse. This happened another time or two where I got lazy, the battery died, I mucked around instead of charging it, and after several days of not using it I would start breaking out. So it really does seem to make a difference in cleaning.
Needless to say I didn't send it back after the 90 days. I think it has been three or four years since I've owned it. I use it every night. Now that I'm taking these acne pills I don't really break out anymore, but I still use it because it makes my skin super soft, I love how clean it feels, and I'm also hoping the exfoliation will over time help heal all my post-acne marks.
