Just something I was thinking about for no apparent reason.

What breeds are generally very snuggly? Obviously individual dogs will vary, but on the whole...

Frodo is so not snuggly, and most of the corgis I have met haven't been very snuggly, but I'm not sure of the breed as a whole.

The only breed I can think of off the top of my head that seem to all be snuggly are pit bulls. I swear all of them that I have met have just curled up and wanted to be loved on. My trainer's pitx is RIDICULOUSLY smooshy and snuggly, with anyone within leash range.

Anywho...what breeds have you met?

Pugs need to be touching you at all times... Izzie needs to be all up in your business all the time. Smushing their faces into your boobs...

Yeah pugs have got it.

Papillons for sure. I've often heard it said not to get one if you want a lap dog but I find them by far the most cuddly and showy in their affection of any dogs I've ever owned. Although, they're not always cuddly with total strangers (except Summer) and there are definitely times they're just too busy to bother with you. I had this happen earlier today... I was holding Mia and she saw something she wanted and she was squirming and whining. I set her down and she started zooming. So I just gave up. But when she wants to cuddle, she's the best dog to cuddle with. Both mine just melt into you. I love it. :)

None of our herders were very cuddly to be honest. Trey especially did not much care for cuddles and the rest would have rather just been sitting near you.

My cousin's pit bull is too spastic to snuggle. He headbutts in affection, lol.

Chihuahuas are definitely cuddlers!

They always have to be right there touching you. Rylie will crawl into my shirts when I'm sitting on the couch, even.

My cat Willie does this with me lol. He tries this EVERY time he wants to snuggle, and I have to say not all shirts are appropriate to crawl into lol. I do thin it's adorable when he crawls inside my sweatshirts though, I feel like a kangaroo.

Haha!

When I'm home I usually wear big t-shirts and PJ pants, so those are perfect for her to crawl inside of.

She's always disappointed if I sit down on the couch in a tight shirt. lol.

Both my cockers are all about touching you. I trip on them too often.. Smudge prefers to sleep on my feet.. Both are often sleeping touching people on the couch. Cider prefers to sleep between people's legs on the recliner..

Poodles are big snugglers. Boomer is another one of those "climb in your shirt dogs". During the winter, if I'm wearing a fleece coat, he'll paw at my chest until I let him in, or if I walk in and still have my coat on.

See, picture proof. Doesn't he look happy. lol In case it's hard to figure out the picture. I'm taking a picture of him while he's in my coat.

Kiba always needs to be by me, though as she's gotten older she sometimes leaves me for somewheres else on the bed or on the floor, but if I call her she'll come running.

No one else really cuddles with me, they are more to lay near me than with me. Meanies.

both of the hound brothers are snugglers--don't know if all hounds are, but my guys definitely think they are lap dogs!

Aussies pretty well have to be on top of you at all times--they are nicknamed "Velcro Dogs" for a very good reason...just like all the other velcro breeds out there. ;)

Sawyer gets too hot to fully snuggle with me all the time, but he's never more than 2 feet away regardless.

American Bulldogs tend to be big snugglers. At least, all the ones we've had at FOHA have been that way. Although, they tend to be a bit overzealous with it and fling their 90lbs on top of you like "HAIILOVEYOUBECAUSEYOURAPERSONDON'TYOULOVEMETOO!!!" lol

Rottweilers. I've had plenty of them in my lap. Oh and mastiffs, if you don't mind being crushed. :p Ooh and boxers. We have a male named Brawley who loves to cuddle and be doted upon. I think he's going home tomorrow, lucky adopters!

My cousin's Bassett Hounds are SUPER snugglers, like if you look at them in the face they run over because you might touch them and they do NOT want to miss that.

This. Exactly.

That's usually all of Dais that I can see, because she won't move far enough out of my range of vision. If you are stationary, she wants to be lying on top of you. That said, she's a wonderful sleeper - spoons like a person and doesn't shift around or wake up overnight lol. I've had bassets I didn't even know come up and do the "basset roll" at dog shows - they hop their little front legs into your lap, and then spin over so their side/shoulder/face what-have-you is resting on your knees/thighs.

IMO, they win the top cuddlers award.

I have no idea if all Akitas are like this, but my brother's will totally climb on top of me and wiggle into my lap (it's hard at 110 lbs, but he manages). Then he moos and moans and noms my arms. He's one of those dogs that mouths to show affection.

The borzois are split. I notice that they are either super body sensitive and don't care to snuggle, or are super boisterous and launch themselves into passing laps regardless of whether that person is a stranger, wants a giant dog on them, or not. Kaia is one of those :lol-sign:. If I let her, she would snuggle us all day. She even spoons if you let her on the bed. So weird.

Oh yes! Dobermans are big time snugglers. They have to have at least part of their body on you at all times. LOL.

I had a friend with a Rottweiler and that dog was huge and terrible. I couldn't sit on their couch without him sneakily, worming up into my lap. He did it so slowly, as if he were trying to desensatize me. :D

I've never had a dog that wasn't a champion snuggler, including my herding dogs. (someone said herding dogs weren't snugglers) Actually, come to think of it, Dobermans are big time herding dogs, considering their make-up and considering how Lyric use to herd the other dogs.

Needless to say, Chihuahuas live to snuggle. They're the biggest snugglers ever. It's their most important job and they take it very seriously. LOL.

I couldn't live without the snuggle factor. That's very important to me. :p
