We don't/haven't had luck treating iliopsoas injuries with anything other than therapeutic ultrasound. Laser seems to work like a band-aid.

Also, I'm sorry! Musculoskeletal injuries are SO hard to deal with :(
Steve had ultrasound at the end of his second round of treatment. I am not sure what her reason was for changing. When I took him in for his hamstring pull, she used laser as well (that healed much much more quickly).

Got Roxie's ex-pen today. Thing's as tall as me! It took a bit of work, zip tying it all to the plastic crate, as well as putting a few cuts of snow fencing in places where it connects to the crate, but... I'm pleased with it :) Roxie seems to like it as well.

Now for the test of whether or not it will actually hold her when everyone leaves... I did put it on a bit of carpet so it can't really be moved around, it's just the wire that worries me. Hopefully Roxie sees this as a worthy compromise and she won't wreak havoc on the poor thing.

Fingers crossed that it works for you!

I discovered that we have an actual "dog beach" about 10 minutes from where we live.
We visited for the first time today, on a weekday, at the beginning of June...on a cloudy day...so needless to say we were pretty well alone and it was awesome :p
I'll probably be spending a good chunk of time there this summer

Mimi pulled the 200 gram tub of Mushers Secret off the table, chewed the lid off, and ate probably 50 grams. I came home from work, found Mimi Greasy Ass.. and now she's wearing her period panties with a panty liner coming up to her tail because she's leaking lubrication..

Happy Thursday, everyone.

Panty idea didn't work. Lubesplosion. Now I need to wash dog panties. 0.o I've ex-penned her with a Bento Ball and a blanket. OMG she stinks in the weirdest way. I'm hoping this will pass and I can just give her one bath. I'm actually sort of surprised Ezra didn't join in in the snack, and hella thankful. I don't think I could deal with two greasy butts...

Laser doesn't tend to work for deeper tissue problems, the laser doesn't reach that far. It also doesn't get warm enough to break up scar tissue, if that's the problem. Therapeutic ultrasound can penetrate to deep muscle tissue effectively. Which I'm sure you already know, but just typing it out for anyone else who reads this, haha.

Cajun got a new expensive memory foam bed today, and is all I'M GONNA SLEEP ON THE FLOOR!! It's cozy, dog. I promise. Much more comfortable than your paper thin sherpa crate mat.

And I love the little moments where I appreciate Juno's awesomeness. I only went to Petco to get bedding for the rats but decided to get this bed as well. It's big and cumbersome and Doberman size (which basically means it's as big as I am), and on top of this I also then have to get and carry my 25lb bag of rat bedding. Through the store and to the check-out, and then out to my car. Which is difficult in itself, but could have been infinitely more difficult since I had a dog with as well. But Juno is perfect and it was like I didn't even have a dog and leash attached to me, so thanks dog. <3

Found a dead tick in the house this morning. The boys and Georgie are treated, I didn't treat Pepper because she never goes anywhere. It was in a spot where it could have come off either P or Pepper (their crates are stacked.) Because it was dead I'm guessing it came off Payton, though. Just ordered some more Fiproguard and I'll be treating Pepper this time... nobody has been out hiking or anything, so that one came from the yard. Aaaaawesome.

I've never heard of this brand before, and from reading on it, would like to give it a try. Where do you order from, if you don't mind sharing?

After seeing our "tick jar" at work from dogs, am already done with them this summer and our summer has only began. :p Thankfully, haven't seen too many creepy crawlies out and about myself personally or found any on us or the animals!

Y'know, I've been finding ticks on Roxie left and right. And I've been treating her. It's the first year in a long time that I've found so many ticks on a treated dog.

I ended up ordering from Amazon this time, I've done petmeds in the past:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050K6414/

I've had ticks pop up before but only after I go hiking or something. Never just from being in the city. But the people who live behind my parents take really crappy care of their yard - they just finally mowed it and it was like mid-thigh height. Groundhogs have babies under their shed every year. Could've been wildlife back there that were sporting ticks and after they mowed, some of those made their way into our yard and dropped ticks.
My co-worker told me he's been finding ticks on one of his dogs and he lives in the city too, and on a teeny little lot with very little yard, so maybe they're just exceptionally bad this year. He said his pest guy told him he's heard ticks are really bad again this year. I don't get it because they've been saying for years the reason ticks are so bad is because we didn't get a good, hard freeze to really kill them off. Well we had a good, hard, really deep freeze this year. No such luck apparently. What was the frickin' point of all that snow and ice and cold weather if it didn't murder the ticks?! NO. DO NOT WANT. >=|

I'm in love with Zinga. That is all.

Well, no, it isn't. I'm really proud of my little Patty boy! He's travelled 12 hours across the country without puking, stayed nearby for every off leash rest stop, took cute pictures for me, and now that we're set up at nationals in a horse stall, he's actually quieting down a LOT. I've never been able to walk into a room he was crated in (or open a car door, etc) without him screaming his head off, but TWICE today, I have walked into the stall and he has remained laying down and quiet- AWESOME. He got showered in treats, of course. :)

He's even being relatively quiet about all of the people/dogs walking by outside.

COULD HE BE GROWING UP?

I would just like to muse about how incredibly easy it is to train an intelligent, handler-oriented, well bred puppy. It doesn't feel real sometimes.

Quinzel is absolutely fantastic. It is miles away from what I have gone through with Zander, but it is also exactly what I wanted. And needed. Very much needed.

I may stick with Border Collies from now on. Who knows!

Neighbors installed an invisible fence. Apparently, it's all ROXIE'S fault. Cuz she's a "crappy neighborhood dog". And now, all the dogs in the neighborhood can't run into everyone else's yard, because Roxie is scared of other dogs and gets defensive.

Way to make me feel awesome about my dog again. Like always, Roxie really is not a horrible dog, but my parents always make me feel like she's the worst dog on earth :( I don't see how this is either of our faults.

I love my dog.

He's really come a LONG way in the last 10 months. He's no longer reactive to bikes/rollerblades passing, is more confident around strange dogs/people, and is just generally being well-behaved. My parents dogsit once a month or so, and they just love him, and say he's such a good dog.
Just yesterday, our food store lady commented on how much he's changed (in a good way) since August, and he wiggled his nub at her!

He can even pull off a mohawk. So much love.

Seriously?!

Oh what a freaking TRAGEDY that they have to follow the bylaws and keep their damned dogs on their own property.

Sorry that you have to put up with that, you're doing great with Roxie and just because she's apprehensive of other dogs invading her space most certainly does not make her a bad dog.

Thank you for understanding :) I can't even tell you how much it means to me. You know what gets me the most about this? She hasn't even come face to face with ANY of the neighbor's dogs!!

Anyways... Left Roxie in the ex-pen for the first time tonight.

She moved it around and tried to escape from one of the corners that I had snow fenced and zip tied. Just... ugh. Dogs. I am so glad she didn't eat any of the pieces of snow fence that she ripped off. She did not, however, eat 5 kongs. Only one was cleaned out.

Girlie, I am trying to do everything I can for you without having to put you on drugs. But this makes me feel like crying. Parents aren't helping. I swear my dog is not the worst dog in the world.
