laika says all the cool dogs open the fridge and she welcomes elsie to the club lol... seriously though. sorry she learned it.. taping the fridge shut works well lol
Luckily we have one where the doors to the fridge and freezer meet in the middle, so we can just tie the handles together.

Still, that's going to make life less convenient.

Indy goes in for her spay Monday. She's already started blowing coat. Anyone want to take bets on if she'll come in early (by several weeks, she's not due in, according to her schedule until the beginning of September) or not?

I hate that she comes in every four months. But she's three now, so I'm hoping that removing her hormones after she's well matured isn't going to be a huge problem, and a full spay will solve more problems that it creates. (At least, that's what I'm telling myself :/

Joey was a good boy on Saturday and got his QC for lure coursing.

Then Sunday we go to compete in Open stakes and he quits halfway through both of his runs and comes straight back to me. Wtf?? Every time we have practiced he has always completed his runs and now twice in a row he quits as soon as the lure corners back towards me and he sees me.

We have a trial this weekend so I scratched him for Saturday but we are still going to show up for practice after Saturday's trial and then Sunday we'll give open stakes another try.

Mia's being weird and whiny and oddly calm for a few days now. I can't pinpoint anything though. Agility she wasn't bad but has been slow for 2 weeks. But not SUPER slow or unhappy. Around the house though she's generally just lying around. Weird.

Today I picked her up and she made a little squeak when I lifted her by her tummy. She also puked once on Sunday. And she sounds a touch congested when she pants.

Or maybe I'm just a hypochondriac. She's still playing ball like a madman.

It's really irritating to me when Shadow will stumble and my parents go "Oh, well she's getting up there... it's to be expected, especially with a lab."

No, she's been EXTREMELY clumsy and her entire life. Stop talking. She's 11, that's not horribly old by today's standard.

Just got back from the vet...without Pig. Had to leave my baby girl there to get her leg stitched up. I think the worst part is having absolutely no idea how in the hell it happened. She's normally the biggest drama queen. God forbid Bear or Badger step on her, you would think someone was skinning her alive with the way she'll cry out. Today? Not a single peep.

I noticed she was acting super weird, just hanging out in her crate instead of being a crack monkey, so I called her over to me. When I put my hands underneath her to scoop her up, one of my hands felt something wet. I looked at the crease between her thigh and groin/body and she's got a giant gash. Cut to me freaking out a bit, seeing my baby dog's muscles and all.

I have looked the whole house over for blood or anything she could've cut herself on, can't find a thing. Not a drop of blood in her crate where she was laying before I called her over to me. No blood anywhere in the living room, kitchen, yard. Nothing. Obviously it's upsetting anytime your dog gets injured, but I think I would be somewhat less upset if I knew what happened.

On a less important note, having to keep her quiet will seriously limit the training we can do. Crate resting this dog is absolutely no fun. And she won't be able to go to the beach for a while now. The house is so quiet without her, it's creepy. I love my boys, but I want my crazy little crack monkey back :(

I had that happen with Gambit once. He neede 12 stitches and I never figured out what he was cut on.

My musing: I wonder if Gambit would let me paint his nails....

Training a running a frame for Zinga via Rachel Sanders method. How in the freaking world can you tell if they are running through the box or running over it?!? Doesn't help that flat koolie is flat.

I can't imagine how fat these dogs would be if it were up to my mom to feed them. Normally I get their dinners ready before I go to work so my mom can easily feed them; today apparently I forgot to do that. And she couldn't just wait another 20 minutes for me to get home and feed them, lol so she took care of it. I asked how much she fed them. Happy got 1.5 cups instead of 3/4 cup. Lucy was going to get 1/2c instead of 1/8c but luckily she hadn't been fed yet so I could abort that plan lol. Juno miraculously got about her normal amount.

Back when Argon was alive, my parents would babysit him some weekends. I always prepackaged his raw. Well one weekend there was a mistake and he came up a meal short. Dad calls to tell me this, but don't worry, he made him a meal. A half pound of cooked ham, a flavored yogurt, and a boiled egg :yikes:. I thanked him and swore to always pack an extra meal after that.

I went to Mom's the other day and said hi to Chloe out in the yard...she was noticeably round. Then I went inside and said hi to Gracie...and I could barely feel her ribs when I pet her.

I told my mom both dogs need to be eating less. "But they act like they're starved." Your point, exactly? They clearly aren't! Save your money, feed them less! LOL

I worked so hard to keep Chloe at 45lbs and Gracie at 10lb. *sigh* Chloe's probably up around 50lbs now and Gracie is probably around 12 or so, but still. Cooper's put on weight since he's been with Grandma, too. He was always around 6lbs, now he's probably 8 or so. Oh, well. They're being well cared for.

I have no idea why, but I bursted out laughing while reading that. I don't think either of my parents would ever do that... primarily because they know how picky I am surrounding Cali's diet, but I guess I wouldn't put it past my dad. :p

I just have to say how proud of I am of Dance. She's still a weirdo, but ever since starting Flyball, she's been so much better all around. Not quite as skittery about different things, more apt to ignore and even be happy around strangers who are ignoring her, even more tolerant of many people who do reach to touch her without asking. She'll still alarm bark sometimes, but all in all, she's just been a much happier and easygoing little dog. Especially when she's with our friends/team mates. Pretty sure she'd trade me in for the chance to permanently live with a couple of them haha.

And I also really need to get her back into Agility. And I desperately need to take some Agility handling classes so I can stop failing my dog haha. We participated in a demo last weekend for a small town's rescue group and it was so much fun for both of us!

It's just so nice to see her finally opening up a bit, having more fun and becoming a more 'normal' dog. She improves little by little each year. :)

I'm so thankful to have Zander. No matter what is going on in our lives, he takes it with ease. We've moved again, I threw him in a car after everything in the house changed, come in a household with another dog and three strange people, and 4 or 5 years ago that would have traumatized him for weeks. But he just walked in like he knew the place, initiated some play, found his spot to lay down and that's been that.

He misses his Child, but he enjoys having another dog around, and he loves the cat too, much to her disgust. He follows everyone around happily, asks for lovings from people he doesn't know.

It just makes me so happy to know that after 8 1/2 years, he's really blossomed into a wonderful dog. He still has his few moments of skittish, but I really couldn't ask anymore from him now than I have in the last two years. And the fact that he just goes with the flow helps me tons.

Now if only he would cuddle.
