So after agood few years of looking...
im getting my great dane puppy!!!!!!!! *happy dance*
im getting a male blue harle Great dane puppy, but heres the twist, hes 100% bilaterally deaf, just like my kingy was! the breeder contacted me after hearing i was on the lookout to give a special home to a special needs dane. she had an accidental litter and both her male and female have since been spayed/neutered. the male is a DARK merle and the female an acually very nice harl. the female unfortunatly got mastitis only 2 weeks in so this litter of 9 were hand raised after that point. all the other pups are fine, but this little boy just cant hear a thing.
weve been talking for a week now and she feels im the perfect home for "Bently" (which im 100% certain will be getting a name change as soon as i decide to what, not that it matters to him since he wont be able to hear me call it lol)
Hes was at the vets yesterday for his first shots (hes 6 weeks old) and the vet double checked, he is definatly deaf, and one eye has an underdeveloped iris, he can see perfectly from the other side, but the side with the underdeveloped iris might be a little fuzzy (he can see from that side but the vets certain its not perfect vision) the weird thing is this is exactly the same probelm and side king had! so this little man is the spit of all kings genetic issues lol.
the vet feels hes going to be a touch light sensitive though so i might have to look into doggles for the summer
Im so excited!
I know some are going to be like "shes crazy getting herself into a disabled giant breed" but i miss my King so much, and anyone thats had a "special" needs dog knows these guys give back 100 times the love.
all we need to figure out now is transport from indianna to connecticut.
