I am not even going to watch it QUOTE]

Me either Lizmo...I can't stand to see things like that!!!!!:(:(:( The taunting the Iraqi kids with water...........what kind of a person would do that to another human being....or any living creature. Sick!!!!!:(
The worst thing is that people that have fun out of this kind of stuff wind up many times as serial killers, or child and spousal abusers. This is very well documented....

I agree that we cannot generalize the whole military based on the actions of some cruel ones; however, they need to pay the consequences for this cruelty, just like anyone else in our society would.

I know there can be an inflated sense of self in some professions like the military, cops, political figures and people in higher authority. As regular citizens we need to stand up for these animals and make sure no one is to high on there pedestal to think they can get away with this. (and are stupid enough to not only video tape it but also to post it on the net thinking they either did nothing wrong or would not get punished for it)

We had a soldier come in and talk to us at school about his time spent in Iraq (he is also our assistant track coach) and he was saying about how he found 2 puppies and they kept them for about a month, and I got to talking to him about it (he showed me pics of the 2 puppies and everything). I asked him if there were a lot of stray dogs over there, and he said "Yeah, but we shoot a lot of them" :( At that point I asked if I could go to the bathroom because I knew that I couldn't talk to him anymore, I was so mad.

Please don't make a boogeyman of "the media" over this. "The media" did not record these videos and put them on the internet. THE SOLDIERS IN THE VIDEOS recorded and uploaded them. "The media" did not go to people and say, "Hey, you should be upset over this!" These images haven't been on any news program. Oddly, after seeing soldiers (including a SERGEANT) taunting kids/dogs, people got upset all by themselves.

Naturally not all soldiers are like the ones in the videos. Most soldiers are good people.
Oh really! I am sorry, but tell me about the last time you heard something good about the troops in Iraq. Did you ever hear big news how some soldiers help out sick children... I am sorry and I know I am going off topic here, but I want to get my point across. Do you ever see pictures like this in the media?

So don't tell me the media does not influence and isn't biased, because that's a bunch of bull!
Of course people have the right to be upset... but did you see the reactions some individuals had here? Multiply that by x when things like this are published. I am not at all saying it should not be brought public, on the contrary... I am all for these sh!tbags to be NJP'ed, trust me. All I am saying is that the media portraits things a certain way and I think we all know that 98% of what gets published here about the military is negative.
I forwarded this link, too... but then again, I do not generalize... be it a cop or a military member.

Oh....and I just want to comment on stray dogs being shot... Yes, it is an order to shoot a dog that comes close to a base, checkpoint...whatever... for security reasons. A lot of dogs out there have rabies or other illnesses. It is not that the dogs get shot for fun.

I can understand that sort of, what bothered me was that he didn't really seem to care that he had to do it.

I have mixed feelings towards him, because although he did talk about shooting the dogs like it was nothing, he also talked to us about how he and his friends used to buy bunches of soda from one Iraqi families' makeshift tent to give them business, and then they would hand out the sodas to neighborhood kids.

I didn't watch it..but I'm also not really that surprised...

There's nothing honorable or heroic about war..I don't support any form of war or anything to do with it.

Thanks to all who wrote in to the various news channels. I really hope something is done about these azzholes. They should just rott there at the mercy of the other side...just like they made that dog suffer...these kinds of people don't deserve to come back home... (sorry if that offended anyone..but people who commit animal cruelty don't have a place in my heart).

What has got you going on "the media, the media". If you take the time to notice, there has not been a word about this dog torture incident, and frankly even with all the contacts that several of us have tried to do, I doubt if you will see one word about it either from the government or the media. If that changes, let us know.....

There were 2 people in my town that were in Nam. Both were really nice guys before they left for war. Upon their return, one of them killed a neighbor, and the other put his wife in the hospital for a year with brain injuries. People don't realize it, but when the war is over, it still goes on for the people that were fighting it. Let's face it, they are sent somewhere to kill people as part of their job.

I was talking about the media in GENERAL. Tell me the last time you heard something positive coming from the troops in Iraq? That's my point.
And yes, like I said before, I forwarded this link in form of the following site to everyone on my address book. Maybe you'd also like to sign it:

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/824381310?ltl=1169303678

Ever thought that the soldier who talked cold about shooting dogs can't let it get to him? These guys out there are under constant stress, if they break down because they have to shoot a dog, they would never be stable enough to do the job they do. Maybe he just wants to leave it behind.

And yes... military members can suffer from PTSD, but they usually get screened and evaluated (at least in the USMC) before they return home. Don't make it sound as if it was a normal thing for soldiers to come back and shoot their wives and neighbors.

I truly believe that the soldiers who did this are probably the type of people o would do that if they were home and not even in the military. It's very sad!!

A understand what you are saying jewels, but its a whole other debate really. The media focuses more on bad things that good things. The same can be said about all the negative focus on cops, pitt bulls ect. It happens with a lot of topics and unfortunately bad news sells quicker.

I guess I never really thought about it like that, thank you for putting it into a new perspective.

Shooting a dog would be nothing to a military soldier, they are trained to defend our country and kill people. And if you ask me, in this disgusting video I just watched, it would have been the humane thing to do. I can't imagine torturting an animal and this video brought tears to my eyes. I can see that this dog was run over to begin with, from the tracks in the sand and the way he couldn't get away from these jerks.

What will happen to this dog now? More torture? Starvation? He would be better off Not suffering anymore!

Sad to say but true!

I also would like to say no righteous soldier saw any of this or those guys would be lying on their backs right now. This does not reduce my faith in our military.

It just reinforces by beliefs that the human race is on a downhill slide!

That video and the one of taunting Iraqi kids with water are a small indication of the downhill slide of mankind.
It is sliding NO Less!

Did you read the messages left for the dog video? People actually think this is funny. I hope I don't run across any of them.... Do this in front of me and I will make sure I get the last laugh!

I agree with you.

Do this in front of me I wont be laughing and no one witnessing will be laughing either.

Look at the mentality of people in the larger cities inner cities, not only regaurding animals but other humans. What these soldiers have done is shown us a much smaller version of a mentality back home, here in the US.
