I'd be curious about pancreatitis as well, given what you're saying. Rich foods are notorious for touching off pancreatitis, and as has already been mentioned, it's not that uncommon in shih tzus.

I'm glad he's feeling better!

So should I ask them to test for pancreatitis or just ask if they think he is exhibiting any signs of it?

Have they run blood work? Pancreatitis can often be pin pointed in a blood panel. Pancreatits can be triggered by certain foods, even small amounts, I add this because you mentioned vomiting bouts after treats from your holistic pet store. Other signs to watch out for when you suspect pancreatitis is your dog not being able to get comfortable (pancreatitis is very painful), play bowing (which is actually the dog trying to relieve pressure from the pancreas, and no appetite. However, a blood panel can come back clear even if pancreatitis is the culprit. Sometimes it can take a couple of days for the enzymes to reach an abnormal reading.

I'm keeping your dog in my thoughts and hope that a diagnoses is reached quickly!

He does play bow sometimes, like when I come home he will or after waking up sometimes but its usually just when he wants to play.

Play bowing (just using the term play here because people know what this looks like and it is the same motion) associated with pancreatitis is repetitive, and not related to play in any way. It would typically be seen in a dog who was very restless (laying down getting up, panting for no reason) and they are bowing down frequently. Hope to get more updates on your dog today.

Well he doesn't do that. So maybe I should just ask the vet if he thinks he should test for it.
