Well, I think I would pick a dog at my shelter for my next dog since I get to know the dogs by working there and know what I want in a dog. I am not getting another dog for a long time though!

I would say that I will go the breeder/puppy route for my next dog. It's funny, because although puppies are cute, I'm not the biggest fan of puppyhood. I much prefer adult dogs. But I do want to do dog sports (obedience and agility namely) and I have fairly set ideas about what I want in a dog and I do want to do all the groundwork with a puppy. Puppies are sooo much work and although I don't dislike puppies, I just feel so relieved when they start to grow a brain.

However, I would not rule out a young adult rescue in the future. In fact, if the right one came along...

Well, I am getting my next dog in May. :) It will be from a breeder (as long as everything works out with puppies being born, right puppy for me, etc). After this little guy, IDK when I will get another one. Hopefully in a few years. It will prob. be another poodle. Either from Rileys breeder that will give me a puppy when I want, or from a litter of my boys (if I breed him, health tests, showing, etc work out). I have wanted a vizsla for awhile too, so... My friend is getting a rescue greyhound soon, and that has made me think of one. So many choices!!!!! Aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Since my current dogs are going to live forever it won't be a problem!!

Seriously though it is likely to be 10+ years before I could realistically even think of adding another dog (still have to finish high school, then uni, then a job then a house etc) so unless one of my current dogs becomes extremely attached to my parents while I'm in uni, I won't be looking for another dog for a looooong time and who knows what my wants/ needs for a dog will be.

Tldr; I don't know.

Breeder- I'm currently holding out for one of Emma's sister's puppies when the time comes. lol. Not sure it will happen, but it's ideally what I want. Haha.

The idea is to get a puppy from a breeder sometime next summer ('13). Either a black male Lab (or maybe chocolate), a male Rottweiler, or a Tamaskan.

Of course, then I look at petfinder and see so many brilliant small breed mutt puppies or adult Labra/Rott/Spaniel/mutt dogs that seem perfect.

So basically, when I'm ready to get another dog, we'll see what is available that will work for me and go from there. lol

A breeder. It just depends on what's available, though. I'm willing to wait for something perfect. I had wanted to breed Terra, but with those stupid winds of change, it may never happen.

Next breed: Dalmatian (of course lol)
From a breeder. Which breeder I am unsure of I do have 2 in mind. So depends on how things pan out. If neither have what I'm looking for, I will look into leasing a bitch.

I forgot to mention what breed I would like to have as my next dog. An APBT or an APBT mix from my shelter.

I really want to go the rescue route, but if the right puppy from a breeder is available at the right time, I would also consider going with a breeder.

My "breed" of choice is a wire-haired mutt from rescue, but other breeds I'm interested in are standard and toy poodles and whippets.

A Malinois pup from a breeder. I do prefer young adults, but dang it would be so nice to build my own dog from the ground up and know the pup didn't have any baggage. Except it would be my first well bred dog, so I'm sure I would make some mistakes. But better to have to live with my own mistakes than someone elses! A big thing for me is that it be from very healthy stock and have good solid drives/temperament. Also a supportive breeder to give me advice and just be a support system would be great too.

And once my curly tail girls are gone (hopefully many years from now!) I am sure I will need another Sibe or AH in my life. I will probably go the rescue route, but won't rule out a reputable breeder either. I've run across a few breeders I would be comfortable with. I might have to raise a puppy if I still have my cat or a new cat.

My cat is only 6 and better live a nice long time! I plan to not get another until she is gone. Then it will either be a gnarly old tabby tom from the shelter or a female Maine Coon kitten from a breeder. Knowing me I'm sure it'll be a rescue cat. My current cat was 2 when I took her in... she is one of the best cats I have ever had, very affectionate and gregarious. Also perfect with the dogs.

My next dog will most likely come from a rescue. There's no specific breed that I really want, more like a handful of specific characteristics/traits, which I think I can find in a rescue.

However, I won't be seriously looking at getting another dog in a while...although I have been toying with the idea of fostering...

My next dog is coming from a breeder.

That said, I am very happy with my 2 mutts. I want to go the breeder route because planning my next dog from the ground up and knowing what I am getting is very appealing. This will be the first animal I get from a breeder.

ACD from a breeder most likely, unless another dog comes along unexpectedly that's in need.

My next ones will be from a rescue place, young adults in the 50-75 pound range. Probably Lab mixes of some kind. No purebreds for me, I've seen too many of them die young. King and Molly have no dog friends their own age left, they are all gone now. A lot of the purebreds died before the age of 10, the last mutt died at 14. Now the oldest of their dog friends are about 9 years old. The youngest is a Lab mix King seems to like who is about 6 months old. He will take an amazing amount of chewing, licking, and climbing on from him without getting nasty about it. Way more than I ever thought I would see.

I love looking at everyone's dogs. I especially love German Shepherds and Corgis and dream of one day owning one. But I know myself pretty well and most likely my next dog will be another odd looking mutt on death row :)

A breeder. We have another corgi in the works for whenever we want her (which will be a LOOOOOONG time from now!) but knowing me..... I'll probably just pick up another well-bred Doberman. ;)

But I'm at my limit plus one right now, so someone has to leave or die before we get another.
