I went on a date today, we went out to lunch around 12 and I came home around 1:30. I let Hillary and Jackson out of the living room where they're contained and clicked my answering machine on.

My brother Randy left about 10 messages BEGGING me to call him, and that it was an emergency.

The poor guy finally realized his fiance was a ***** and found her sleeping with another guy. Well Randy didn't bother badgering her, he started packing. His girlfriend Aleisha said she was going to file a restraining order against him and that she would cut his dog's throats out if he didn't take them with him.

Ontop of my poor brother's misfortune, a few weeks ago a dog came into their yard and mounted his two border collies AND his girlfriends Husky/Lab mix. Ironically, Aleisha's dog didn't get pregnant, but poor Millie and Daisy did.

My brother doesn't have a lot of stuff, or money since his fiance went and had a shopping spree just after xmas. Anyway, he's going to be living at my house until he can get back up on his feet, find an apartment, etc..

Randy's always going to be there for me. He's out in the barn talking to Daisy and Millie (yes... he sits and tells them everything about his day) while I'm making supper... and forgetting to turn the oven on when the foods been in it for about 15 minutes already. XD

Sorry for the long post, but I feel sooooo bad for Randy. His poor babies are going to have puppies (they're nearly 2 years. He was going to get them spayed when they turned 2. I am so mad at Aleisha... one time, she slapped me in the face and kicked Maya and made us leave her house because Maya snarled at her mom's shih tzu when it DIDNT STOP BITING MAYAS FACE.

/mini vent. But anyway, PLEASE tell me what I should do for Randy. He's such a nice guy!

If its not too late in the pregnancy, you can always have the puppies terminated. It may be the best thing to do for him right now. If not, its going to be quite hard for him to find an apartment with two dogs anyway. Just give him the support he needs and everything should turn out okay.

Yikes!

Apart from making sure she doesn't have access to the bank accounts etc... just stay the heck away from her!

For the dogs, depends on how he feels personally, but some vets will still spay them even if they are pregnant. Not the greatest move but given the situation and how many dogs out there need homes, it might be something to consider. Not sure what I'd do myself, but....

if your brother doesnt have much money there is no way he is going to be able to deal with two litters... even with money it would be very very time consuming... have the dogs spayed ASAP

... How late is too late to spay? I've talked to Randy about it and I'm willing to pay for it.

I'm not sure, you should take them to the vet and ask them. If it happened more than a month ago, it might be too late, but maybe not, I'm not sure. Ask the vet though, they'll be able to tell you for sure.

Check with the vet, but I don't think it's too late to do. I know here the vets will do cats quite late, because there's so many homeless cats already.

ASAP. If your vet tells you he or she wont or can't call at least two other vets for a second opinion. Some wont spay while the dog is pregnant.... and if you don't know how far along they are it could be tough.. but believe me, a litter will cost 10x more than a spay.

I'm sorry ... but I'm more concerned about the dogs right now than your brother . I won't even start in on three females is heat outside without supervision . Yes, the females should be terminated and spayed now !! It will cost less than having a litter . You've already given Randy a roof ..... if he needs help with Spaying ... do what you can . Then let's talk affairs of the heart , add ...just saw other posts : I had a pregnancy teminated and had choice of just taking the pups or going ahead with a spay at the same time ....this was many years ago , so asking your vet is your best bet .

Spay abort. They can be rather expensive (though still cheaper than having the litters) so I would look into your local SPCA to see about discounted rates.

Where are you located? Maybe someone on here will be familiar with your area and low cost spay/neuter clinics.

The low cost spay/neuter clinic near me will spay bitches in heat and pregnant ones all for the same price as a regular spay ($60-70).

FINALLY I fix my computer.

We called the vet the morning after I posted this, and they said they could schedule an appointment in 2 weeks because there was so much spay/neuter appointments.

Then we called the next vet office, and they're charing $160 per dog for a pregnancy spay that close to giving birth, not including any bloodwork, stool tests, IV fluids during the spay, etc..

... So I called the vet place where I got Hillary and Jackson from, and guess what? We got Daisy an appointment for a spay near $80 dollars, and ontop of that close to another $100 for IV fluids and bloodwork. Unfortunately, they couldn't give us a same-day appointment for Millie, so we're looking for a vet that will spay ASAP.

If you can get an appointment soon from them (this week) just make the appointment now.. if you find something quicker you can always cancel.

In my opinion, that just sounds like a whole lot of excuses. It should have been done already. The longer you wait, the harder and more expensive it will be until it just won't be able to be done any longer. You posted saying it happened a few weeks ago and then come back 12 days later... this is at least 33 days which is half of the gestation for a dog. If your brother can't afford an emergency spay of $160 plus bloodwork and necessities then he most certainly can not afford to bring MORE puppies into the world, that will only add to the numbers of dogs that already don't have homes. This is just really irresponsible... among many other things.
