**Dont know if this should be here or in the Fire Hydrant**:)

I was outside with Chloe earlier in the front yard, she was on her tie out we were working on "Come" and "Stay" and playing...Well, we went back inside and I swear not 10 minutes later my mom comes inside saying there is a Copperhead on the front porch (of course we killed it), it wasnt 5 - 10 feet where Chloe and I were thank God she didnt see it, or couldnt reach it...What a scare.....

Me too....I am sooo very thankful that I put her tie out as far out as I did, on any other day I would have had it were she could have reached the porch...

That is scary, glad she didn't get to see it. Are they quite common in your area? I’m glad we only encounter garter snakes. :(

I hate all snakes !!! We had cotton mouths in our creek and I always worried about the dogs,,,Luckily they always knew where to attack and the others would grab the rear .... and do tug of war . Hated those " games " and glad no one was bitten !

Oh man that sucks. Rocky and I were playing once in the yard and I saw a garter snake (non-poisonous)... I know Rocky - and I knew he would try and chase it, possibly paw at it... if I'm lucky, he'd pick it up and bring it to me. So I just ran in the other direction and he followed.

Why did you kill it. Don't you have AC there? They would come and get it. If you want to see poisonous try the Rinkals, Poffadder and Cape Cobra. All on my door step. I have NEVER killed one. We are on their turf, not the other way around.
No to mention all the scorpions here. I do not agree with killing.
I am glad Chole is ok.

It killed me to read "of course we killed it" - of course??

Why did you take it's life away? It wasn't doing anything wrong.

I don't know how many times I've relocated nasty snakes. It doesn't take much more than having a heart to do it. I very much so dislike snakes and I'm very terrified of them.. but i'd never kill one just because it was on my property.

We had a little mutt dog (Smokey) when I was growing up that got bit by a Copperhead and didn't survive the bite.

Glad Chloe didn't get bit.....
