Now if we spent that much to better secure the border and deport them all, we could better care for our seniors and underprivileged citizens.

Coop . . . . thanks for the opportunity. There's a very simple solution to the problem that I can see:

We're doing this all backwards.

It's very easy for illegals/undocumented aliens to get on the social welfare roles.

It's nigh unto impossible for most to come here legally and get work visas.

See where I'm going?

So . . . . we rescind that utterly ridiculous clause that says just because you're spit from a womb on U.S. soil you're automatically a citizen.

We make it impossible to qualify for social welfare programs without being a citizen.

We make it easy to come here and work legally.

Makes it far less attractive for those looking to welch off the backs of the workers and more attractive for good, decent working types who want opportunities to better themselves and their families through their own efforts.

I don't see HOW though.......I know people that have to take their WHOLE life history in order to get a little help with groceries or some such!

It's nigh unto impossible for most to come here legally and get work visas.
See where I'm going?
Yes, and I like the THEORY, but I have some questions........

So . . . . we rescind that utterly ridiculous clause that says just because you're spit from a womb on U.S. soil you're automatically a citizen.
What would make one a citizen then? Would THEIR parents need to be citizens in order to make a child born a citizen? Or would EVERYONE born need to complete citizenship? It could get messy.......LOL

We make it impossible to qualify for social welfare programs without being a citizen.

I like it, but refer to above question as well. Because then there would be people having children just to qualify for free benefits.......WHOA, just like regular citizens do now!! ;)

We make it easy to come here and work legally.
I have no problem with that :)

Makes it far less attractive for those looking to welch off the backs of the workers and more attractive for good, decent working types who want opportunities to better themselves and their families through their own efforts.
I agree with your concept, I just need a few things made clearer to me.

If my monthly SS was increased much less than .001 % of that paid out to " Them " , I wouldn't be drawing from my savings monthly .

Coop, at least one parent - in the case of a non-married couple, the custodial parent - would have to be a citizen for a child to qualify to be given citizenship.

Can't get any messier than it is now if you think about it. And it's far simpler than building a silly-assed wall that doesn't hinder anyone anyway.

Before the INS was essentially dissolved and re-formed under the Department of Homeland [In]Security, Enforcement was being beefed up and making some inroads into the real culprits of so much of the wave of undocumented aliens - the corporate "sponsors" who are paying the compradores and coyotes to bring trailer loads of illegals in. That was stepping on the toes (and bank accounts) of too many major political contributors and a halt was put to that, enforcement offices were closed down, and the public got a steady diet of propaganda about Evil Illegals Who Are Taking Your Jobs and Your Women.

It's all becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy, not to mention the generations of the children of undocumented aliens who are not only their parents' meal tickets, but are going to be of voting age very, very soon . . . . care to ponder what kind of immigration reforms we're going to see THEN?

TM you big chicken! It's good to get that blood boiling...........

And Renee, I REALLY like the idea of a parent needing to be a legal citizen in order for the child to gain citizenship. Then there remains the problem of education.......if the parents are illegal and they are here working, do their NON citizen children still get to participate in our public school system? Because I am telling you right now, that costs us loads of money too, between the over crowding and the special programs of ENL (english as a new language)..........how would we deal with that?

Coop, I'm not willing to deny any child an education. I am, however, more than willing to cut out the English as second language classes!

If you think about it, though, if there is no welfare incentive, nor automatic citizenship for children born on this soil, that will be effective in a drastic elimination of the problems faced by the educational system.
