I am new to the board, but I have yet to see other greyhound owners. Does anyone else here own a retired racing greyhound? Surely I can't be the only one. How about a greyhound mix? I know I saw at least one forum member with a grey mix. :p

SO if you have got them, tell me their story and share pics if you have them!:D

I don't think we do other than... Sis, is it? Ack, I can't remember!
oh.. sad, sad day! I can't remember who mentioned on another thread they had a grey mix. I guess all the other greyhound owners are on the greyhound forum :(
While i really love the greyhound forum, I prefer learning about all different breeds and having people share their experiences about all sorts of breeds I know nothing about.

Well..... we THINK Beezer is a greyhound mix. And anyone that sees him in person agrees lol. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get a good picture of him that shows his Greyhound like features but they are definately there.

Can those that WANT a retired greyhound apply to this thread???
You can always apply to my threads Ed! BTW- you DO KNOW right, that your next dog MUST be grey or a galgo? Otherwise, JJ and Pru will come to your home and kick some a$$. :D

I dogsit for a few greys and I'd love to own one someday, perhaps when Izzy and Frodo are older, when I can financially provide for one, and when I find somewhere that I can allow them to run that's fenced. I'd love to adopt one of the older bitches that the kennels keep for breeding, I always feel so bad for them.

Izzy and Frodo have a playdate buddy who is a greyhound, his name is Rain:

Meh, I can't join that forum cause I don't have a non-yahoo/hotmail e-mail address *pouts*

Awwww.. Rain is beautiful! I hope that you will be able to have one of these gentle dogs some day. The older bitches have QUITE the personality let me tell ya. There is a couple I have wanted to take over the years, but usually they are not cat tolerant and that has to be my number 1 criteria. Instead, I take the 'problem children". I have a fear aggressive boy and a really spooky girl who have both had multiple homes. For some reason my heart is far more drawn to the toughies and since DH and I are willing to work with them, I would rather leave the "easy ones" for others to adopt. Unfortunately it means that my guys don't make good breed ambassadors and people are always wanting to come up and pet them, and in most cases I can’t let people do this and I have to explain how my guys are totally different than the breed norm.

But I love this breed for their complete goofiness. That is the best thing about them. Oh... and I forgot about the fact that the account can't be a free one for that website. I don't know why it is that way. argghhhhh!

Rain is gorgeous! Greyhounds are so muscular and you can sure see that in Rain.

jjsmom, I never knew one to be like you explain yours, they all have been big ole love bugs. See what humans do to poor innocent creatures.
Good for you to take the difficult ones and work with them.:hail:

I am positive Breeze owns a greyhound or two. I recall several being on the board but I can't think of any names at the moment.

Definately on my list of future dogs! Such magnificent animals.

No that is Teddy in my avatar. he is our RB dog. and in my siggy that is Belle. I need to update it to include Beezer. there are some pictures of him around on the forum. If you click on my name you can view all threads made by me. You will see some of him in there. In the meantime I will try to get a few good ones of him.

Yes I would love to see some pics if you don't mind posting them! :D I asked about the aviatar pic cuz the angle looks a little like a "needlenose".

Tucker- thanks for the info on breeze.. I will have to look them up! And I am glad to hear that you might have a grey some day. I think they have "ruined me" to owning almost any other breed. they are truly incredible!:D

Thanks for the compliment! But in honesty the reward for owning the "unadoptables" is just as great on my side as theirs. To watch them grow and change for the better is most enjoyable and a reward in and of itself. You are right though.. The majority are easy going, gentle and very adaptable. Some get REALLY screwed up though. Both of mine are from a track in Mexico and my female goes out of control the second she hears someone speak Spanish. I don't know what happened to her down there, but she never raced due to her spooky personality and yet she has some BIG scars on her body. Poor baby. :(
