Winston took a bad fall last night, but we didn't worry too much, as we helped him up and he seemed fine. Just a bit stiff, but he's fallen lots of times as he's 10 now (and poorly bred with terrible hips) and isn't very sturdy in his back end anymore. Anyhow, when we got home he just wanted to lay down and rest.. which was fine. That's what he does most days anyway. But then he got up this morning and could barely move and just didn't look very happy. So I crated him to make sure he didn't try to run around with the girls and to give him some rest, thinking that he'd be better later on in the day. I thought he'd just sprained his shoulder or something. I let him out of his crate around 2:00pm to go outside and try to get him to eat something as he didn't eat breakfast this morning, and he went out and layed down after he made it down the steps with my help. He never lays down outside on the cement. Then I went and brought him some food and he could barely chew. He finally got some scrambled eggs down though (the only thing I could get him to somewhat willingly eat). He progressively got worse throughout the day. My mom got home from work at 5:00pm and took him to the Vet at 5:30pm when we noticed his gums were almost as white as white could be and he was acting extremely lathargic. Anyway, it's 7:00pm now and my mom just called and told me that the vet thinks he had some sort of tumor inside that burst with his last fall and he thinks he has an internal bleed (not surprising... he's always getting new visible lumps. Who knows what's all inside). He's not very optimistic that he'll make it through the night at this point. My mom is taking Winston for a second opinion at a friend's Vet to see what he says though... hopefully it's better news. I can't help but cry and think the worst, no matter how optimistic I try to be. It seems like one dog after another, after another dies within just months of eachother these past few years and its just too much.
Anyway, that's all I know at the moment as my mom wouldn't let me go to the vet's with her. Can you please spare some good thoughts for our boy?
ETA: It just seems so weird to me that he could be perfectly fine one moment, and the next he's (according to the vet) almost to the point of dying. If it is what the vet thinks it is, wouldn't there have been other signs previous to this?
