See, even if I wind the hair really tight and keep it on top of each other, I can get about half of my hair onto the headband before it starts overlapping.
Its going to be different for everyone I am sure...I just did 5 huge sections last night and there was room. Just now for fun, I did it when it was mostly dry (vs pretty wet last night) and started to do smaller sections. Quickly started running out of room and getting overlapping/tangles/etc.

So, for those interested, I would suggest pretty damp hair AND big sections. I do have really thick hair but it all fit when I did big sections (and my hair is fairly short right now, just at bra strap length). You should get big, loose but stable curls from my experience.

I never tried it with big sections...I was trying to fit like 20 sections on there. Now I feel silly, might need to try this again.

So I think I need to cut down even more on the Castor Oil. I woke up with random patches of dry skin all over my face.

I wonder if I can just use the Avocado oil, without the Castor Oil.

And do you think your skin goes through a detox period after starting the OCM?
I do not use any castor oil.

My derm says you should not go through a detox with the OCM only with a new exfoliant but who knows lol

The things I do for my hair.

This is the sexy turban I wear when I get out of the shower

But then this is the end result

My family really enjoys seeing me walking around the house like that at night. My mom says I look like Aunt Jemima.

My next experiment is to make homemade flaxseed gel!

So I've been on the OCM for about 4 days now, and I really want to continue, but my eczema is getting bad on my face from it. I do not know if I should continue or stop. I really do not want to deal with eczema.

What are you using as your oils? It could be you need to adjust the oils some or switch to something else perhaps.

I don't know for sure, but coconut oil really helps clear my sons eczema.

Internet says avocado oil should be good for eczema but like Greenmagick says it also mentions coconut oil... you could try switching to that, or maybe just do the OCM less often? I only did it every other day or so. Even a tiny amount of castor oil that often may be too drying, hard to say.

I will try doing that. I don't even know if its worth doing the OCM, because my skin is generally acne free and I usually just wash my face with my natural soap bar in the shower and before bed just wash my face with hot water.

I have 5 weddings to go to this summer and the next one is in May so I do not want to be dealing with bad skin for the wedding because of the OCM and waiting to to settle. BLAH! And its a family wedding so pictures will be taken.

I don't have to worry about curls ... I have plenty of those to go around lol

Just now seeing this thread again and wanted to thank you guys for the suggestions! Going to try some of the conditioning treatments you guys mentioned!

And Fran, as for that tutorial for curling your hair by twisting it up with your fingers and letting it dry, my sister and I totally used to do this ALL THE TIME when we were younger, and I never even knew it was like ...a thing! That's so cool!! I want to start doing it again!

So. Dilemma.

I've been trying to grow my hair out since August.

The ONLY thing I am sure about right now is that I want my hair red again - but I'm not going to because it's so much **** upkeep.

I don't really like my last cut. . . the stylist cut it too short for growing out and it's not really even. I ended up fixing it myself. I really like the lady who did it, but I just don't like the cut. It's made me want to chop all my hair off pretty desperately. But I've put so much effort into growing it out that I don't want to give up now! I want my hair to look like this:

And then this:

So... chop it all off because it's cute and easy and I can have the top down all the time? It kills me to keep the top up on the way to work so that I don't ruin my hair. Or stick with it for god knows how many months so I can have curly hair again?

So I've decided to stop using the OCM it's just not worth it and I don't want to try a ton of different oils and what not.

But I did buy some Tea tree Oil and Shea butter for my eczema, and its working wonders already. WOOT!!

Nolu, I really love the second picture. It just works really well with you, and that red hair. LOVE IT! it just looks so natural.

But why don't you try and let your hair grow out. See what happens. If you realize you can't handle it, but it back into that cute little bob.
