Some of them look really good! But creepy creepy creepy and TACKY AS HELL ("Oh yeah that's my freeze dried puppy.")

"Perpetual Pet" like wtf? Noooo you have a pet for its personality not its meat and fur.

My dad used to joke about having the labs stuffed and placed by the fireplace. I would go ewww gross.

And now all my dead pets ashes are on the fireplaces mantle:cool:

How... disgusting.

I think it lets people avoid coping with loss, which is a Very Bad Thing.

I hated reading the testimonials. "Now I can have Princess with me EVERY DAY."

ewww.

Creepy. I would not be able to handle having my beloved pet's lifeless corpse hanging around my house. I kind of think that I would keep expecting them to get up and play and interact with me, which I don't think would be healthy. I can only imagine how it would mess up my kids' heads. "Mommy, why won't Root play with me?" *shiver*

I think having his body around, devoid of his spirit and personality, would be worse than not having him around.

I'm really not sure how I feel about it. I think I'd probably be creeped out by having my dead pet sitting there, void of any actions...

Before this, I had only heard of taxidermy... when I was young, I opened up the cabinet under the kitchen sink at my grandmother's house and found her stuffed persian kitten... :yikes:

I don't like the idea of burying my pets, and would probably go with cremation if they were to die... and keep them in a decorative case.

I wonder how the owners care for their freeze dried pets? I'd imagine they'd collect a good bit of dust, and I wonder if they can actually be handled to clean it off?

A few testimonials mention that they love cuddling their mummy, so I assume so.

Um...no. My pets deserve more respect than that.
:hail:

It kills me that Emma is dead. I would give anything to see her again. However, I owe her much more respect for what she did for me than stuffing her body. Well said.

Well, it's freeze drying... they don't stuff them. I think they remove a couple of organs/bones depending on the company, and then put them in machinery that dries their bodies.

Either way... freeze drying or taxidermy... you're putting your pet's corpse on display. It just doesn't sit right with me at all.

No f'ing way - it's hard enough not having Maggie around, I can't imagine looking at something that looks like her but is completely devoid of the spirit that made her who she is.

Am I the only one that got reeeeally POd at how the site made it seem like this would "make it all better"? Nothing can make losing Maggie "better", nothing.

I've thought about the idea of stuffing Morgan when she dies...only half joking...She's just so soft and cuddly, I can't imagine not having her to cuddle. And dead and stuffed? No worries about a tongue that ate poop ending up in my nose, no worries about her taking off the tip of my finger when I give her a treat, no nonstop barking. ;)

But yeah, I very much doubt I would do it. It's just a little too weird.

I do like that ring made from their ashes though. I might have to remember that idea for when the time comes. :p

It reminds me of Coraline... with all of the stuffed Scottish Terriers/Miniature Schnauzers wearing angel costumes in the living room.
Yes! So disturbing.

I just don't understand why someone would have them freeze dried and put them on display though...it just seems extremely unhealthy. The ones that say they snuggle the freeze dried body creeps me out even more. I wouldn't be able to look at it let alone TOUCH it.:(
