Well we're back. Most of the results came back today, She has Valley Fever.
considering all the neurological syptoms she has been having the vet is pretty positive that it is in her brain. Valley fever is very common around here (Arizona) in both pets and people. Most often it is seen in the lungs, which is easily maintained. But considering it is in her brain, the vet is worried. It is a deadly disease if not treated. It still can be maintained though, she will have to take meds for the rest of her life. Looking at a more poitive side, there's always that slight possibility that she takes to the meds positively and later down the road we will have the infection under enough control that we could take her off the meds... but there is not cure.
He sent her home with some more meds today, and she has to remain on the phenobarbital because more seizures are certainly possible. He said the reason she has been acting normal (for the most part) today is beause she was on IV fluids which made her perk up. But she could very well go back to how she was at any time. We are waiting for a couple more test results to come back so we can get an idea if this is something contracted recently or not. And then I guess we'll take it from there.
