I've been bitten by both Milo and Benji (JRT and Wheaten terrier, respectively) while breaking up fights. Nothing serious, just bruising and maybe a tiny bit of blood, either scratches or shallow punctures.

I had my finger laid open by a Lhasa Apso, pants ripped by another Lhasa...a Westie would have mangled my toes had I not been wearing steel-toed boots. As it was, he laid the leather open down to the metal underneath. A Laekenois left teeth marks on my leg after I tried to grab him to stop him from trying to eat Sawyer. A German Shepherd tore up two pairs of pants and chased me up a stop-sign quite a few times.

Considering all the thousands of hours I've put in directly dealing with 100's of dogs, I've been pretty lucky/quick. No stitches and nothing a little Neosporin and a band-aid wouldn't take care of.

The only bite I have had was a fila, to my left hand, 4th finger HAHA. It shocked me more than anything, as he was going after someone else, and my hand just kinda got in the way LOL. Once he realized whom he accidently chomped on, it was wiggles and kisses and OMG I SOWWY!

When i was younger I had a Rottie baby's tooth catch me right under my eye, not tech a bite thou.

On the jaw, by a Dalmation. I needed a number of stitches, but can't remember how many. Old dog, my fault.

On the wrist by a Springer Spaniel, no damage.

i've been bitten by my own dogs when i stuck my hands in the middle of a dog fight and once luce redirected onto my calf. never needed any kind of medical attention or anything.

i've been bitten a number of times at work- english bulldog, beagle, shih tzu, chihuahua, shepherd mix (that one meant business but luckily just got shoe) but again, never seriously. like other have mentioned, if you deal with lots of dogs in a stressful environment day after day, bites happen.

the only bite i've needed medical attention for was from my cat. i've known several vets who've been hospitalized for cat bites. they're not something to mess around with.

Same here, but this was years ago. I needed a shot and a yowza did the cleaning of that wound hurt like a &#*&($@. I don't think we give cats enough credit.

Bella accidentally bit me once, we were playing with a toy and she definitely didn't mean to and just about keeled over "apologizing".

About three years ago I was bitten on my wrist by a mutt of some kind... completely my fault, I was helping her owner and he failed to mention she was a biter!

I've never needed medical attention. The only bite that has broken the skin was by Trey this summer. I have a nice row of teeth still visible on the back of my hand. It was totally my fault- don't startle an old, blind dog.

My dad got mauled by a lab, which other than that insane pit bull we had in the shelter the other day have been the only dogs I've seen go after a human for absolutely no reason.

Beau did practically pierce my dad's ear. Beau was a puppy and he and my father were playing and the baby tooth got caught on my dad's ear. It looked like a nice piercing job, but it bled quite a bit. My mom freaked out at the sight of the blood, but of course Beau didn't mean to bite.

I've been bitten by a Boston Terrier, a Dachsund, a Chihuaha, a Sharpee, two Rottweilers, a Labrador, and a Golden Retriever (the last two being my own dogs on accident).

None of them were serious, only one broke the skin (one of the Rottweilers). My worst 'bite' (several bites) was on a cat who wrapped itself around my right hand and went to town on it. And even that healed really well. No scars or anything and I was back at work the next day.

My sister, on the other hand, had a small part of her left ear removed by a dog. I don't remember the breed it was (happened when she was 9, I was 5) but it was a small dog like a Chihuaha or something.

When I was 5 I got bitten in the face by an Aussie. 2 stitches in my lip, 6 in my eyebrow, and 12 in my ear. Because of that and another incident where I got chased down by a dog, I was actually afraid of dogs until I got one at age 21.

I got tagged in the eyebrow by a shep x while drunk at a party. It was around 2002 and I'd been working with dogs for about a year and thought I was invincible (ha!).

Since then I've had many close calls, but thanks to a great mentor who taught me lots of safe handling tricks, I've managed to avoid a bite even when the dog on the other end of the leash was trying to attack me or trying to break up a dog fight. Sure, I've been tagged by an overzealous dog going for something in my hand, but I don't really consider that a bite.

It's one of those things, though, where you count down the days. The longer you work with dogs it's just going to happen at some point. Still, it's shocking when it does. My old roommate is an ACO and she came home with a huge Rott bite on her leg. Dumb thing is that her commanding officer was the one that instructed her to put a collar on the dog while he had a casual hold on it. Every bone in her body told her "no" but she was given a direct order and the dog tagged her. It shook her pretty hard.

Me, too! I was the first to pass out at a large party and, when I woke up, there was writing all over me! More often than not, though. I'm the one wielding the pen... beware passing out at my house! :p

The worst bite was from a standard poodle. Went for my chest or neck (not sure) and I caught it with my arm.

I've also been bitten breaking up dog fights and working at a kennel I've been nipped at so many times but this little mini poodle really nailed me on my pinky finger. I guess poodles dont like me very much  :)
