We often get the "that puppy's gonna grow up to be HUGE" comments about Morgan. Then I tell him he's already five years old. :yikes:

I once had someone reach down to pat Cohen and asked, "Oh, is she old???" Cohen was probably about 10 months old at the time. The fact that they could feel her ribs threw them off.

Now everyone is shocked when I tell people Cohen is 3. They all seem to think she's much younger because she's so slim and doesn't have much bone.

With Megatron, now that I've taken off all her extra weight most people are shocked when I tell them she's 7. She's grey in the face.

No one usually thinks Sox is a puppy, he doesn't look puppy-like, but he does have huge clumsy paws in comparison to how big he is. People do ask how old he is and when I tell them that he's 6 (which isn't old to me...) they go on and on about how I have to be wrong because of his TEETH. Because, y'know every 'old' dog has icky teeth. They just have to.

Duke is usually put at 10-12months. People usually just ask, "How much bigger is he going to get?". When I say he's full grown, 2yrs old... "Oh he's so small for a lab".

Boomer is thought to be 5-7. He's looked like an adult dog since he turned 1. I think people assume his coat is just faded out from age since he's a 'charcoal'. But he's just two as well.

Izzie is usually called a puppy because she's so teeny (in weight, she's pretty tall I think) and they always ask me "will she get any bigger?" no, no she won't she's 4. She's also getting grey in the face, especially her chin and little white hairs are popping up around her eyes and on her ears.

Yes this happens all the time with Sheena and Daya. People always assume that Sheena is only about 3 or 4yrs old, not 8 1/2yrs old. Now that Daya is bigger people are amazed that she is just under 6 months old yet so calm, relaxed and so on. Not the typical puppy at all. So yup this happens regularly for us.

Rocky is generally mistaken to be much younger than he actually is. The only "grey" he has is on his back (he's the typical Yorkie blue and tan) so people tend to think he's much younger than 13. On the other hand, people tend to think that Baxter is older than Rocky even though he's 7 years younger than Rocky.

We met a lady on a walk once and she asked how old Rocky was, I told her 13 and she was shocked. Her friend came out after and talked to me for a few minutes. As I was leaving I heard the first lady tell her friend "The dog on the left is 13. Can you believe it? I hope I look that good when I get old!"

Neither of my dogs act their ages. Buzz moves with an odd gait but even with that I get guesses from 9-10, not 14 years like he is.

Bailey's usually 5-7, rather than 12.

People generally assume that Bailey is younger. He's a really happy boy (though we sometimes have to deal with anxiety in public now) and he has a puppy face and long skinny legs. And I am a weirdo because it makes me very happy that people thing he's so young.

And, god, I hope everyone knows Grace is a puppy. I hope they think she's like four months rather than almost 8(!). She's going to stay on the small side, and the OTT energy isn't going anywhere (hopefully it'll be under a bit more control), so I'm hoping to go with the puppy excuse for a long time, lol.

All the time with my son's dog. I had her at the vets one time (I take care of her a lot of the time) and someone thought she was like 6 months, a year tops. She's about 12 years old but so goofy, friendly and non-arthritic....she does seem really young. And also, a lot of people think the Chihuahuas are puppies because they're small. But Chulita in particular looks old to me. She has one very cloudy, blind eye and her lips sort of sink in where she's missing teeth.

Buster has grey dappling on his snout, so most people guess a bit older. Ruby is doing that retriever early greying thing, but then they see her bounce 5 ft up and guess she is 2.

Everyone thinks Ruger is a puppy because he's "too small" to be an adult APBT *rolls eyes* and he's almost 6.

Everyone thinks Zealand is at least 2 years old. Half the time, it's because of his size... the other half, it's because he'll be sitting or lying calmly.

Those are the only two there is ever a conflict with... most people just ask how old the others are.

People always think Meg is older than her almost-eight years. She's been going grey since she was about three, and it keeps spreading. I figure I'll have a white dog by the time she's 11.

I find brindle dogs seem more prone to premature grey. Macie was very grey too, and it started at around 2 or 3. All her brindle markings went from apricot to grey, too.

Ahh all the time. People don't believe me when I say Peewee is almost 15 years old. They think closer to 9 years and wellllllllllllllll Ivan nobody ever, ever believes that is is going to be 8 in the spring. They think he is closer to 6 months. Of course it might have something to do with him bouncing all over the place.

Nobody has ever really guessed Juno's age, but most seem surprised when I say she is 3.5.... I assume they think she is younger, because they usually follow up with a comment about how small she is for a boxer. And the fact that she bounces around like a lunatic probably leads people to believe she's a puppy. Not that 3 is even close to being old, though.
