Chance is not going to make it....

I can maybe add another year and a half or so if I do extensive radiation. Does anyone here know any sort of people who help pay for things like that? I cant get insurance for it because its a pre existing condition. I love this dog, but I am unsure if all of the radiation and vet visits are worth him MAYBE another year and a half.

oh by the way- them knots on the sides of his neck are swollen lymph nodes. the vet said it is common when dealing with such a sever infection.

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this

I must say that the dogs I have been around while going through radiation (though I've only been around a few) have not had a very high quality of life

Unfortunately , that's true .............a hard choice . Quality of life is so important . What does your vet think ??

The vet thinks we should put him down soon. I am thinking next monday, that was I have one more week to spend with the greatest dog I could ever have. Chance is so wonderful. He is a big love bug. He loves to snuggle on the bed with me. with his head on the pillow next to mine... looking at me in the eyes and he puts his paw on my shoulder. I can even ask Chance "do you love me?" and he will bark three times like he is says "I love you"
He is always under foot and loves to be with me. I just cant imagine life without him yet...
He constantly brings me toys and if i do not play with him he will bark at me and keep putting his paw on me. I have never had a dog like this... he is so great. and i just know i will never have another.

So sad !!! Yes, we do have our Heart dogs , but trust me others wiggle their way into you heart .............it may be harder on you both to wait . They pick up our feelings so . Chip may have had a few weeks or a month , but I couldn't let him suffer because I didn't want to lose him . My missing bed buddy was so hard to take ....that's why I had to find Ollie . My heart and toes are warm again . (((( Hugs ))))

Understand . I had to put Chip to sleep so quickly , I wasn't prepared . I couldn't sleep that night and went on Petfinder at 3:30 and there was Ollie .

Don't let yourself or anyone else make you feel guilty for looking for another dog. I think it's a wonderful tribute to Chance that your life with him is so good that you want another.

Again, my sympathies that you are both having to go through this. I hope he has a comfortable week, and that you get to spend lots of time with him.

Don't feel guilty at all! We had Rose just two days after Harry had passed suddenly.

Rose has been a godsend and the most wonderful dog imaginable. She needed a home, and we had room. I'm sure Harry would not be upset with us at all for helping another dog.

Only an open loving soul with an empty heart can bring in another fuzzy to love so soon after losing a wonderful pal !! I never understood those who couldn't . They loved their dog and there are so many dogs needing love ! Take your time .... Chance is your #1 concern now , but if one stands out .... theres' a reason ! I know that my Goldens at the Rainbow Bridge sent me my silly Ollie !!! Everyone thought that he'd be too much for me ! He's been perfect ! He made me eat crow , after being such a purebred Golden snob for 60 years !!!

Last night Chance was doing pretty bad. He was having lots of trouble breathing and has lots of nasty discharge. I bet he hah 5 sneezing fits, each of them containing about 20 -25 sneezes. Its just 7:20AM right now. I am calling my vet when they open and talk to her
