OK I need a list of all the brands I can try to get my cats to eat (wet food). Willie eats it pretty well but Neko gives it a sniff, occasionally a lick, but will not eat it. He WAS eating the Felidae wet but decided he didn't like it anymore. So I need to know what else I can try, give me the most complete list you can then I'll tell you if I've tried any on your lists.

There's only one brand for me when it comes to cats. The results I had were so incredible, I'll never switch again. Innova No Grain. Although I've never fed wet food, I'm not sure if they only have the dry version. But most likely. :)

Ah, well I'm a firm believer in tough love when it comes to picky eating. Animals won't starve themselves unless there is a health problem. Another reason why I feed dry food, if they don't eat it, it can be used again next feeding. I just don't allow my pets to be picky and have me switching foods constantly. The only switches I've made were because I became better educated on what the better foods were, and wanted the best for my pets. Both the cats and the dogs.

Well I never fed wet before but I learned it can prevent crystals, blockages and other bladder and kidney problems so I want them eating it as a preventative measure. It's not all they eat though. They eat two meals a day. Breakfast is dry food and dinner is either dry food or wet food (I switch off every day).

Last night Willie loved the California natural venison and brown rice but Neko would not touch it. Tomorrow we use California chicken and brown rice. Then two days later we will use Chicken Soup for the cat Lover's soul.

We have tried
Felidae
Merrick (which I don't want to use anyway)
Evangers (I also don't want to use this)
Innova

I will try Wellness and Eagle pack holistic and Solid Gold next.
Then I will try
Evo
TWO
Orijen
(I am reluctant to do it because of price)

Low ash is also a factor there.

Innova EVO will cause you more problems then it will prevent. (IMO) It has really high ash content...

I am currently feeding Wellness canned. It smells delicious and their breath is okay and stool is great.

I'm making an appointment with my vet tomorrow to chat with her about food(s) for the kitties... my vets really want Tom on a special diet due to kidney problems (yes, the list is getting longer as we speak ) but they are pushing Science diet/Hills despite my "YUM! peanut hulls!" comments (okay, well there were more serious comments and discussion on what a crap food it was, but you get the idea) to my mother, because they think she is the one who has the say in their food. Riiiiiight.

I can tell you what she says when I get back from the appointment, if you'd like. :) Overall I'm thrilled with Wellness, they are doing so much better on it than they did on EVO or any other food except raw. We had a brief stint of raw, nearly two weeks, in which they had small, non-stinky stools and great breath. I miss it LOL. Especially the breath part.

The canned Chicken and one other kind I seem to have forgotten are my faves as far as ingredients and smell go. I was so hungry Thursday night when I opened that can I almost ate some. It smelled better than the chicken noodle soup at Paneras.

What kind of innova did you try? Mine have the regular one and they love it... and they are picky.

What I do is leave the kibble in free feed, and give them 1/4 of a can in the morning and in the evening.

It was the one in the red can, regular I think.

oops, I just realized that Orijen and TWO don't have canned cat foods so I won't be trying those.

The kitten gets a little bit of Eagle Pack Holistic 3 or 4 times a day and loves it. She's not exactly a picky eater though.

Have you tried any of the Solid Gold products? I feed all 5 of my cats just dry, currently Chicken Soup The thing about the canned food helping with UTIs is that they get more liquid in their diet that way. If your cats drink good, and mine do, then they should be ok anyway.

A little canned never hurts though. :D

Yeah they don't drink very well, I swear I've only seen Willie drink 4 times since we've got him (he's 1 year old). Plus I'd rather be safe than sorry, I don't want them to get any of those things, have to spend a bunch of money (or worse, have my parents choose not to spend the money :( ), then have them put them on Science diet or something if it all could be prevented. This is the only reason dad lets me get the wet food, he hates it, he thinks it smells, costs a lot and that cats get addicted to it ( I wish, then we wouldn't be having this problem).

No I have not tried Solid Gold but I will add that to my "things to try" list. So far it goes like this

Eagle Pack holistic
Solid Gold
Chicken Soup... (which they will be having tonight)
Fromm
Wellness
California Natural (have already tried one type which Willie loved but there is another they need to try)

Oh, and I have a question about Natural Balance wet food. I thought one of them was recalled, but now it seems that every one still feeds it, is it safe and do you recommend it?

I think that's a personal choice. I know that a pet food store (chain) in the bay are that still WON'T sell Natural Balance- any of it, in fact. I'd prefer not to feed NB ever again, but again, that's a personal choice of mine. I think there are better foods for my buck, anyways. ;)

Our cats are fed kibble (innova and now being switched to Evo) in the morning (they get a certain amount per day) and at night, we switch between, raw, canned food and sardines/tuna, etc..

The canned food they really enjoy is the merrick's (erm, I think) and the Nature's variety. We switch off on these.

I tried one kind of Merrick (the one most people said their cats liked) which was grammy's pot pie. Neither of them really liked it. I have also heard some people won't feed it because of something with a rendering plant, I don't know much about it though.

I am a strong believer that cats need some canned food because they are not strong drinkers and finding ways to add more water to their lives goes a long way toward avoiding feline urological syndrome.

Two good canned foods are
Felidae
Chicken Soup For the Cat Lover's Soul

I used to use Eagle Pack but the truth is, they make it a Menu Foods Cats also like Natural Balance but they too have had some bad press.

OK about Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, I was going to feed that but I read over the ingredients last night and it has menadione in it. I am not comfortable feeding that to my cats.
