I find it funny... the Simpsons *gags* for all that it's worth is known for making fun OF people, AT people. I haven't watched it in years, but I'm sure it's even more rude and annoying than it was when my brother and I were younger. It's very existence is to jab at people. Yet, we can't laugh at a photograph that could be depicted in the Simpsons which would leave people to roll around laughing their asses off? Talk about double standard.
I try to consider the source. I will leave it at that.

Yes, I am bigotted towards fundimetalists, but I never denied that.
In my constitution it says that no one is to be discriminated against because of sexual orientation, gay priests may be ordained and gay marrige is legal.
I say well done to this "third world" country that is more liberal then the "super power"

BP, I really respect you. You are a religious person who has great faith but are intelligent and open minded enough to show great tolerance.
You are a perfect example of what real acceptance is.
Thank you for your kind words. :)

But, I would not say I am religious. It's not how I classify myself. I have my beliefs, yes, and my faith, but if I were to classify myself, those beliefs would not allow me to be acceptive, tolerant of what is for other people.

My concentration, or minor, whatever it's called, was Intercultural Studies. We delved deep into cultures and religions and it was an eye-opening experience for me. Who am *I* to tell someone that what they believe is silly because of what *I* believe? How ridiculous is that. It's also disrespectful and not at all what God wants ME to be.

Sorry, "sermon" done. :p

Posting deliberately inflamatory things that will lead to religious typing wars does this board no good.

If you ask me, we need a category for Religion/Non Religion co-bashing. We could call it, "I believe and I don't believe. Let's fight and leave everybody else in peace". It's reached the point where people are rolling their eyes and are afraid to say anything anymore because both sides have become downright rude. There are people who are staying away because of it and this is wrong and darned uncomfortable.

This board is not fun anymore half the time. I personally know people who are skittish because of it. If you don't believe me, somebody start a thread and ask. Ask, "Are you sick of this?" I bet it will be one long thread. Do a poll. I bet it will get lots of responses.

I have been guilty too. I am going to try to do better.

This is just food for thought. BP will probably beat me up for this. lol. But somebody needs to say it.

....checking bruises.
I'm one of the people who is getting entirely sick of it and I'm also quickly getting over this forum altogether if it is going to be nothing but constant arguements.

I come here for the most part to talk about dogs. Sure, random stuff here and there is interesting too, but I am quickly seeing ChazHOUND turning into ChazGOD and I'm on the verge of being done with it.

Tolerance....Acceptance....

<sigh>

How are those things ever going to change minds? All they accomplish is to silence one side of a arguement.
First off, I PERSONALLY chose TOLERANCE, instead of acceptance, because the two are very different. You don’t have to accept me, or my beliefs. You don’t have to accept and embrace homosexuality.. what you should be doing is being tolerant of others views that are different from yours. Now I haven’t been around this board very long Puck, so I am VERY LIKELY wrong in making the statement, but it seems to me that you could benefit from more practice of tolerance. And this doesn’t mean that you can’t continue on your mission of helping others to find God. In fact, quite frankly as an atheist, pro choice, lover of gays, lesbians bisexuals and transgenders, if someone REALLY wanted to help me find the way of God and bring him into my life and change my beliefs.. they would do so through their tolerance of others.

I apologize if my statement about you not being overly tolerant is an inaccurate assessment. I don’t claim to know you and have had very few dealings with you, but that is my first impression, so take it for what it is worth.. which is likely nothing.

But then we have a 1700 page thread about nothing- so that's okay? lol

---

Someone shouldn't be afraid to post things because they have the potential of turning into arguments. But, what needs to be remembered is not everyone is going to agree and that it might be beneficial to respect someone's viewpoint rather than pick it apart. That's the problem. A lot of people are getting too big for their britches...

Like I said, random stuff is interesting - it's when one topic, such as religion, seems to take over the entire forum that I can't find anything I want to even post a response to anymore. The 1700 page thread grows and grows because it seems to be the only place that doesn't turn into a big arguement. At least that's why I hide out in there.

OK, end of my rant.

Carry on Folks.

Its funny you mention "too big for our britches..."

No lie, I literally have to keep the top button, unbuttoned, on all my work pants, save one pair.

"Sympathy bellies"... LOL I just hope mine goes away like Tanya's will after peanut arrives.

Puppydog, where do you live? I probably should have seen it earlier, but I just realized what you meant by "my" constitution.

You know TM I feel like you and if I wanted church and it's teachings I would go to one. That is about as likely to happen as I am going to give birth to another child ... NOT
It seems that every thread has to be hammered on about the righteousness of it or not. I believe that we have had enough of it now too.
Debating is always good but it should be kept to threads that ask about these things so that those of us who are not in the mood for a sermon don't have to sit through one. I am most likely one of the most charitable persons one will ever meet but I do not do it to gain reward in heaven nor do I want to do it for that reason I do it because other people and animals need the money more then I do. I do not break the 10 most important laws weather or not they are from a higher power they are good laws and that is the long and short of it. I am ok with a thread being about religion but it need to be marked clearly as such and the preachers of the world need to keep it there please. I am getting to enjoy chaz less and less because of the religious bickering and the need to be careful as to what you post for fear of stepping on ones toes. This is a dog forum and if there are brutal animal jokes I can see the reason tempers will flare but not for a joke like this and that is funny to me to about Simpsons watchers finding this offensive. Some of the stuff there is really much worse then this and why I chose to not watch it. I find double standards in abundance when it comes to religion which is why I can not follow it andI have yet to see the ones that preach their faith give a sound logical answer to many questions it is the same in a church "" because I have faith" Want to get me show me !!!

That is you and you my friend are not like the sullen masses who think what they are told to think....
I find that an ironic quote from someone who follows the word of god, and has a book detailing how one should lead a good life.
