We are up to 6 swine flu deaths and over 6000 confirmed cases. It is being classified as a pandemic as of now.
I am keeping myself dosed on Viral Guard and Vit C.

It is getting really bad. scary thing is you dont hear to much about it any more. Just once in a while the will have a 15 second clip on the news on how it has killed X amount of people and X amount of people are very sick with it. I havnt worried about it in a while, my town had somthing like 20-25 confirmed cases. my region has 100's of cases.

See, the thing with H1N1, is that it's really not as bad as people think. The media makes it out to be worse then it is, because it's new. There's other things that have killed more people, that you should be more worried about, IMHO. Unless your immune system is shot, or underdeveloped, it will take care of it.

I thought Vit C helping against diseases was a myth...

And seriously, how many die of the regular flu every year? I don't really understand the panic...

Exactly! Not even just the regular flu... I'd be more worried about getting shot, ran over, stabbed, or dying of second hand smoke, then getting and dying of H1N1.

Exactly

and for those worried they don't hear much about it anymore, just wait. You will, as soon as the vaccine is ready, that's all you'll hear. They aren't going to get you all hyped up just yet, they can't make any money off the fear right now. All in due time.

H1N1 deaths are generally older people, or people with already compromised immune systems that even a common cold might kick. 6000 confirmed cases, yes, but most of those have been treated and the people are fine. It's much like the regular flu, it just doesn't have a vaccine yet.

Ok, you try living in a country where the HIV infection rate is through the roof. Informal settlements make up the majority of the housing in the country and people have no access to health systems. Am I allowed to be concerned now?

not really, just take care of yourself. Unless you're living in a tent camp with no clean water, food and cramped 10 to a tent and have HIV, get on with life.

I feel like the media is just making a big hype about it... A friend of mine got infected with the virus and is prefectly fine. We hung out the night before she literally got sick - and I'm fine I assure you. That was 3 weeks ago..

I guess it also has something to do with how stronge your imunsystem ist from the start.
If you disinfect everything around you, your imunsystem is bound to get weakend, because its not exposed to anything.

PD, see if you can get something called Cat's Claw. Excellent immune system support :) Nothing wrong with being aware, and you do live in a different environment than most of us.

A lot of people here get worried about it as well. You should have seen the panics here over bird flu  and I could understand why some of the people who were freaking out were afraid -- they worked in closed in factories, or schools, or places where they had to be in close proximity to the public and the public is notorious for not caring who they infect with whatever they've got. The winter that the flu was so bad here, it seemed like ever parent who had to take a sick child to the doctor had to stop and shop for furniture first -- with the sick child  I was massively grateful for the magic of Fila drool. Everyone else got sick ;)

While this is true, there are still all sorts of illnesses to be more concerned about than H1N1. I guess it is one more to add to a list, but really it's easily treatable as long as you watch for symptoms and seek treatment when needed. I thought South Africa had a form of health care available to citizens? Said my friend who lived there almost a decade ago, but her facts are taken with a grain of salt.

Considering that two siblings died in Ohio last month ( grown and not living together ) . I take the warnings seriously . No panic , but aware of warnings .

or the roughly 300 people that die per Day from the proper use of pharmaceuticals, toss in over doses and allergic reactions and that number more than doubles, PER DAY. Where's the worry? the panic?
