Fertility treatments, what are your opinions?

That would make you the common denominator. Something to consider perhaps.

I for one was shocked to learn that you were day over 18. I know you think we're saying that to hurt you, but that fact is that a decent number of people thought the same thing without prior discussion. Also something worth considering, if you don't want to be continuously "misunderstood" everywhere you go.

Dogdragoness, I post what I did to hurt your feelings, but to encourage you to be more loving to yourself which by default would help you be more compassionate to others.

Whether you mean it to be hurtful or not, a lot of what you have said on this thread and others is really hurtful and people are responding to you from there. There is nothing wrong with having a strong opinion, there is nothing wrong with holding the only opposing opinion in the room, but there is also nothing wrong with trying to be empathetic when you go about sharing that opinion.

That's all I was trying to say.

At the end of the day you don't go into a bear cage, poke the bear and then cry woe is me when you get hurt.

What you have done now is similar to posting a I <3 Ceasar Milan thread on the general dog chat section.

Agreed, but isn't a "I love CM thread" also someone voicing their opinion? But I have seen people on here go off & attack anyone with a differing or obtuse opinion that is not popular, this place tends to be rather ... Cliquey.

It may be harsh ... But my opinion is an opinion no matter how poorly stated, are the folks any better who belittle & attack (I also saw how stephy was treated in her thread)?

As far as "poking the bear" I doubt any of you are akin to that ... Remember I work with race horses for a living ... Not much intimidates me.

Frankly the world is "cliquey" where there is a group there will be a majority opinion and the defense that goes along with it. Attacking is you telling others that things such as adhd & diabetes are deal breaking genetic traits without any knowledge of ones characters.

Whether someone has the majority or minority opinion I don't see why "attacking" is necessary. If someone is incapable of making a point without being nasty about it they probably don't have much of substance to say to begin with.

I'm probably going to regret posting this, but I do think the OP was a bit ganged up on. I don't agree with her, and can certainly see how some who have benefited from fertility treatments might be offended by some of her statements, but I don't think that there is much purpose behind telling her how much younger she sounds than her age, how ignorant she is, etc.

Personally, I'm glad she posted this thread. I learned a lot about fertility treatments and the process of going through them that I didn't know.

I have many aspects that differ from the majority on this forum, I make a strong effort to not outwardly impress my life choices on others. I do this somewhat selfishly. It's about presentation and self preservation, live and let live within reason, you offend multiple and you'll get multiple replies and thus "ganged up on". I presume there is nothing wrong with choosing elsewise but one should always be prepared for the predictable outcome.

I'm in between letting my dogs out and going back to my dad's to help him move and honestly don't have time to go back through 20 some pages of posts right now, but there were some posts that struck me as unkind simply for the sake of being unkind.

I do agree with you to a point. However, I feel that what makes Chaz the place that it is are the variety of posting styles and walks of life the members are from. This thread had me thinking about my own reproductive opinions, and as I said, I did learn something. I do hope the OP keeps posting here, if for no other reason than she works with racehorses....

Yes, I do respect others opinions (even if it doesn't seem that way) I only got "catty because I felt I was being attacked for having a grossly obtuse opinion opposed to everyone else's. then folks started dragging my spelling ability, religion, age etc into it ... Things I didn't even bring up.

No where did I say "your child was conceived thru fertility treatments so they shouldn't be alive!" Or "you have inherited defects that run in your family therefore you shouldn't have kids!" What I SAID (or more imports fly what I meant to say) was that I didn't agree with fertility treatments & I don't. Don't like that I don't? Tough cookies.

I have ADHD I made a PERSONAL choice not to have a kid, this was part of that choice. Life is a daily struggle for me & I didn't want a child to have to go thru that. I didn't imply that Everyone should do as I do.

You know, if any of you weren't clear of the meaning of my posts you just could ask me to elaborate instead of attacking, assuming, & belittling.

Don't want a kid? Great. Stop making thread a about it and atop going into happy threads stating how disgusting you find children and pregnancy. Continue to do it, you will continue to be disagreed with. Its really not difficult.

Everyone's life is a struggle daily, we all have our own demons, but you did insinuate it was wrong for others to choose a life different than your own. You get what you give comes to mind. If you're totally misread then I apologize for the hardship but what you say is more important than what you mean in a debate, words are all we have, we can't read your mind.

I haven't read this whole thread, only the first few pages, but I just have to say something. Sometimes I feel like the OP is a troll. She is always bringing up topics that she has negative opinions about, she drops her grenade of an insulting post and then walks away and watches it explode into a 28 page post.

WHY BRING UP SOMETHING LIKE THIS? We ALL know your opinion on the topic, "Everything about pregnancy and breast feeding is icky." You don't have to bring it up all the time.

But you never really explained why, you just said you didn't think people should be able to have 6-8 kids (or whatever multiple number) without counseling. People are telling you that you DO have counseling.
