A lot of people were pretty correct about my breed - energetic, fast, intense etc. I would not agree that they are hyper. I consider hyper to be out-of-control and a good Border Collie would never fall under that category. Active and manipulating, yes, but never hyper. All the Borders I have met have an "off" or "slow" button that is automatically pushed when they are not working.

Labs are over bred and everywhere!
You can thank bybs and mills for that..Supply and demand.
They are however great family pets among other things they are great at.. if bred properly.:)

I used to love labs when I was a kid. Then as I got older and the breed became even more popular i started to encounter alot of nasty mean ones. And when I say alot I mean almost everyone had some sort of issue either aggression or timidness. Of course I blame it on the breed being so over bred and people breeding dogs that shouldn't be bread personality wise. And of course training. But I have unfortunatly been turned off by the breed because of it. I still love the looks of the Lab and I wish I could trust them but right now I just have a hard time. I don't hate labs though I just want to make that clear. Like you said their great if their bred properly.

Also I don't mind Lab mixes my Pixie is a Saint Bernard/Lab and I love her very much.

These are just my opinions.........

NOTE: I own a Chihuahua.

1.) Chihuahua- Small, quiet, friendly, loves cuddles and people attention, think they're bigger than every dog! Loves kids, but hates other dogs that aren't part of the family.

2.) Chow Chow- Strong, independent, can be aggressive

3.) Lab- Faithful, docile, a true people dog

4.) English Springer Spaniel- Full of energy, smart, a bit hyper and silly at times

5.) Border Collie- ENERGY!! Non-stop active dog, weary of strangers

6.) Pit Bull- Strong, muscley dog, friendly

7.) Australian Cattle Dog- Hyper, in-your-face attitude, willing to please and LOVES attention, can be independent at times

8.) Norwegian Elkhound- (unsure..)

9.) Mastiff- Friendly, big-bonned, loves to play and is sweet and smart

10.) Jack Russel Terrier- HYPER!!! Bounces, highly intelligent, loves to please, craves attention and loves to learn tricks

11.) Malinois- (Never heard of this breed before)

12.) Catahoula Leopard Dog- (unsure)

13.) Saluki- Elegant, desert dog, loves to run

14.) Bloodhound- Droopy eyes, independent, working dog

15.) Pharaoh Hound- Slim, unique, quiet dog

1.) Chihuahua- Lots of attitude, loving, snuggle bug.

**Chihuahua's should be well trained and socialised (just like a large breed of dog) as they have quite a terrier temperament. They'd love to be boss of the world, so it's the responsibility of their human to teach them that that's not the way it works. With good socialisation and adequate training, they should NOT be aggressive nippy dogs. Although they're watch dogs and will bark if something is amiss, they really shouldn't be constant yappers either. Although they may bark a bit much for some. My little guy rarely barks at all, he's unusual in that respect though.**

2.) Chow Chow- Teddy bear, proud, devoted, not a social butterfly.

3.) Lab- boring, very active, misrepresented.

4.) English Springer Spaniel- Handsome, active, wants to work, gentle.

5.) Border Collie- work, work, work, work, gorgeous coat.

6.) Pit Bull- love bug, misunderstood, kids pillow (I saw an image once of a pittie being used as a 'pillow' by a kid, it's always stuck in my head since. LOL)

7.) Australian Cattle Dog- work, work, work, playful, fun, loves being with you.

8.) Norwegian Elkhound- fluff ball, intriguing...don't really know much about them.

9.) Mastiff- sweet, drool machine, lap dog wannabe

10.) Jack Russel Terrier- playwithme, playwithme, playwithme, never stops, either on or off, true family member.

11.) Malinois- don't know much about them

12.) Catahoula Leopard Dog- work dog, sweet to people, dangerous with cats or small animals, lots of exercise

13.) Saluki- RUN RUN RUN!, dignified, silly.

14.) Bloodhound- Nose glued to the ground, never tires, loves it's people

15.) Pharaoh Hound- Wants to run all day, silly, fun.

Cass.

Cass, Abby (my Chihuahua) is the same. She rarely barks at all, too. The only time she really barks is when she's excited to go for a walk, or if Harley's out the back barking at something, she'll do the odd bark to help with 'protecting' our property (if we didn't have Harley I bet Abby would really never bark). She is such a lovely Chihuahua, my mum said this is most likely the only breed she wants from now on!
