Zelda:options other than Royal Canin

A few months back Zelda lost quite a bit of weight and a blood test revealed her to be suffering from pancreatitis (weight loss was the only visible sypmton). Thankfully she has now recovered - blood test results are much better - and regained some weight.

My confusion is this when she was diagnoised the vet blamed diet - which was raw chicken wings and Eagle Pack Holstic (duck & rice) - suspecting that because it was a hypoallergenic food she was missing out on vital nutrients
The vet is normally very good, but I'm not sure is too hot on nutrition.

Anyway she was put on a special low fat dietary Royal Canin food & we have now progressed to the standard adult Royal Canin.

Now that she is well again and at good weight I wondering if there is better option/ higher quality food she could be on, better than Royal Canin? I was considering putting her on Burns but just saw in another threat that this would need supplementing.

Not all US-available brands are available, I can source from UK and Spain and I know I can get Fromm and regular Eagle Pack . . .

Suggestions please ??

The more I think about this the more I think I would would like to get Zelda back on the Eagle pack. (Bonnie has been on the Holstic duck flavour for a while now & is doing great on it.)

Anyone agree this would be the right way to go would she be better on the regular Adult formula or the the Holistic one she was on before??

Any thoughts appreciated as I need to make a decision in the next day whilst I'm still in the UK...

I don't have any clue about Eagle pack because no one around here carries it. Andy has been on RC for awhile now, and he is doing awesome on it. Sorry I can't help more.....

I don't know either, but I'm interested. My dog recently went through some gastric problems. In fact, he's still on a prescription diet, but, as of tomorrow, I can start weaning him off. He had just gone on Eagle Pack when the problems started, and the vet first thought it was pancreatitis. He also suggested that he not go back on this food (he didn't know the brand, just got some nutritional info from me and didn't like the fat content) when we did wean him off. As time went on, we had to do more tests. The blood tests were never conclusive that he had pancreatitis, but he continued to have alot of problems, including throwing up blood. He had a barium series which showed that he had some damage/inflammation in his upper bowel indicative of eating something caustic that had caused his problems. He continued on his prescription diet and medicine. Now that I don't think he has a chronic digestive problem, I'm trying to decide whether to go back to Eagle Pack or not. Since he got sick right after starting it, even though I know it had nothing to do with his ailment, I'm a little nervous about switching him back.

This does nothing to answer your question. I'm sorry. I was hoping that maybe someone would know of something good for dogs with sensitive digestive systems. He was still sore in this area the last time we took him in for a recheck, and I just think it's going to be awhile before he's completely back to normal. I would love to find a good food that's also easy on digestion.

Eagle Pack is currently changing their formulas. The new products will be announced soon.

I'll gladly help with some comments once that has happened, since it's kind of moot to discuss obsolete formulas.

There are also excellent natural options to support and balance the digestive tract, but what works depends on the individual dog and food sensitivities should be ruled out first.
