I was out at the horses with my mother the other day and she just casually threw in "oh, Buster got out the other day"
I just sorta went, okay. I know him, he doesn't wander and he isn't one to barge through open gates.
So then she added that he got out becuase he saw a woman walking her husky/GSD past. He attacked it. Holy F.
I was at work, we have 6 foot fence to keep the dogs in. Buster is DA and while his recall so far has been good even around other dogs, he doesn't really listen to anyone other than me at the best of times. So why... dear family, when you've got the gates open and are moving things through them, would you not just lock up my DA dog?! Especially considering hte road we live on is a favourite for people walking their dogs.
He took off, started into it. Mac was following him, Mum yelled. Mac sorta went "oh... what the hell am I doing here?" and ran back inside. Buster flew in, charged it and then turned tail and took off back into the yard.
Mum went out to apoligise to the woman, who luckily wasn't too worried. No damage done except a broken halti and she said it was okay.
I'm so mad though... I'm trying to help Buster. He is my world and this council could kill him for doing this sort of thing.
Seriously, he is DA and if I'm not home and you need to open the gates, just put him away because he isn't really interested in listening to people that don't put much effort into him.
Just three more months and hopefully I can get us some space.
