... I was looking around for dog food, and I found Life's Abundance and Sojos (I see that the links come up at the top of this forum). Are these good foods or are there any catches that I can't see?

The websites are www.healthfoodforpets.com and www.sojos.com.

I appreciate anyone's opinion on them, I have a very picky eater and I am always looking for alternatives to what she eats now (which is Royal Canin - I have opened bags of Innova, Canidae, California something or other, Solid Gold - my spoiled little brat will just take a bite and then move away LOL :)). Thanks in advance. :)

in my opinion, the life's abundance food is decent but not great. it's definitely better than iams, nutro etc. but it doesn't quite measure up to the true high-end brands you've listed. it's not horrible, but you can do better and the price is in no way justified, even with the multiship discount. if you need to try something else for yourpicky eater, try chicken soup, it's a somewhat better formulation and also doesn't contain menadione.

sojos makes mixer flakes, which you add to fresh (cooked or raw) meat. it's a nice concept and several different manufacturers now offer this type of food, just be aware that sojos does not offer ingredient analyses, so you don't even know how much calcium, phosphorus etc. their products bring into the diet. i've tried to discuss the topic with them once and was rebuffed rudely, being told that i'm looking at nutrition the wrong way if i need to know "all those numbers". excuse me, but i prefer to know what goes into my animals, so i can adjust their diet accordingly!

Thanks, Mordy, I really appreciate it. I liked the idea of mixer flakes too, it seems so easy to just add cooked or raw meat, but I understand what you are saying about the actual contents of the flakes. You mentioned other manufacturers of flakes - is there one that you recommend?

Thanks again,
Corina
