I just lost my dog to cancer and never really knew what breed he was. Hopefully someone here can shed some light on it.
He was a larger dog about 85 pounds. I'm lookin for some better pics. but his tail always hung down with a curl just at the end.

German Shepherd something...kind of hard to say what the other part(s) might be...I'd hazard a guess on Lab because of the ears and smooth coat, but he could have also been more than just two breeds put together too.

Very striking looking dog, I'm sorry for you loss.

I forgot to mention he had very faint strips along his sides and his forehead. I think the Shepherd part is right and.... Im thinkin maybe brindle black mouth cur. Like the ones at the bottom of this page. Black Mouth Cur, Information, Black Mouth Curs Partly because someone told me a couple of years ago that he had cur features.
But you guys know way more than me about this stuff.... what do you think.

My guess is he's just a mutt (and I mean that in the best way possible), but there is German Shepherd there FOR SURE. Maybe the colouring came from a boxer? That may explain the ears, too.

Where do you live at? BMC's are pretty uncommon outside of certain parts of the US, so it's kind of unlikely that's what he's mixed with.

Yes thats true. Im not in the south east. Im in las vegas where people move here from all over the nation.... or used to. So this is one local you may find about anything. Hard to say really we got him out of a box in a supermarket parking lot in 115 degree weather. Alot of people find hard times here. Anyways thanks all for the input.
