At our local TSC there was an ad for beagle pups for sale. The ad said that one of the pups had part of her ear nibbled off so they would negotiate a different price on her.
Is is common for puppies to nibble the ears of their siblings hard enough to remove part of the ear???
I don't know why or how often it happens but my aunties staffy is missing the tip off one ear due to whatever happened when she was still with the litter.
She looks so cute, because one ear is lighter than the other, one stands up, one drops down.
My friend had a litter last year and one of her pups ears was gone.I think the mother chewed part off. Not sure though.(Cant remember what she told me) But she was a real nice looking pup and she was thinking of showing her anyways.
I had a Rottweiler who had the tip of her ear missing too.
yes definitely something I would attribute to Mom, not littermates. Could easily happen when you allow the cord chewing and she's not careful. Pups have lost tails, toes and even limbs in a similar manner. I always do that bit...personally.
I'm with Dogstar on this one. I've seen an overzealous mom do this before. Some moms will also chew the umbilical cord too short and do damage or create a hernia to a pup but this is usually a new mom I think.
