Well, it seems one of my four week old puppies is a whiner.......I have not found any hints on how to deal with this for a dog so young. As luck would have it(!), this is the pup that my daughter has chosen to keep. For the past couple of weeks or so, she has been the whiniest, but for the past 2-3 days it has gotten out of hand.......usually between 9 AM and 1 PM, she will whine and whine(sometimes for as much as 3 hours straight), and she has already been fed and had water. I pick her up sometimes to try to calm her down(maybe I'm reinforcing the behavior?), but it will only quiet her for a few minutes. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have never dealt with a puppy this young before. My husband thinks that she's just wants to be "hovered" over all the time, and is spoiled, but I'm thinking maybe a vet visit is in order. She sometimes pants when the other pups aren't, and it's about 70 degrees in our living room. She looks very healthy, she is actually one of the biggest, plumpest pups in the litter. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I forgot to add, my daughter has been gone for a week visiting her grandparents, and won't be back for two more weeks.........could this be part of the pup's problem?

I would have a vet check for sure.

Could be her food is not aggreeing with her, or she is in some sort of pain. Not normal for a puppy that age.

Definitely see a vet. That is way too young for a dog to be spoiled (and really, what is wrong with being spoiled?). This pup has something going on and a vet can help you sort it out. I hope the baby is ok.

Vet time.... this is NOT normal ! A pup at this age with Mom and litter mates should only cry or whine if away from the group until it finds it's way back to Mom or siblings....3 minutes at the most.
