I religiously apply the topical flea/tick preventative (forget the name) to my dog, because she's allergic to flea saliva and everything goes to hell if she gets a bite. But it's apparently tick fiesta time outside right now. All weekend, every time I patted her head I found another deer tick. Ewww.
I had one crawling up my leg after a walk on Saturday, and Sunday night, two dropped into her water bowl, presumably dead or dying from their encounter with the treated dog. Ew, ew, ew, ew.
I hate ticks. Dog ticks worse because they're so repulsive and soft. But then, with deer ticks I'm always worried about her getting lyme disease. I'd forgotten this part of summer, scanning the couch for dead ticks. Bleh.
