The members, their opinions, views and personalities are what make a forum, this forum in particular a GREAT ONE!

That being said, coming on and seeing all these dramatic "I'm leaving because so and so hurt my feelings" etc. take up valuable web space. Chaz pays to allow us to have a place to meet and discuss our various concerns about our beloved fur babies. To use up that resource, which is so kindly afforded to us is kind of selfish IMO, when it can simply be done by pm to those you wish to remain in contact with. I come here to discuss and learn about our fur animals and everything related to our precious pets. It's become boring and a waste of time to read the same threads about leaving over and over. Some may come and go, but you can be sure with such a great forum as this, more will come and stay than leave. Maybe those that leave would be better served in a forum where the main focus is the people and their lives as opposed to the animals we love so much.

So, may I propose this, perhaps ONE sticky thread titled Saying Goodbye, where anyone who finds it necessary to leave, for whatever reason, can post their farewells on that one thread. It could say, "we've enjoyed your stay, appreciated your input, and wish only the best for you and your pet. We're sorry to see you leave, but know that we want only the best for you and wish you success in the future with your pet. Thanks for joining, perhaps we'll meet again somewhere else.." Good luck, sadly Good Bye!:(
Then we don't have to see thread after thread started with these dramatic departures by those who decide to leave and not use the pm feature to let their friends know (even though I don't understand why they wouldn't) Perhaps this could be set up in a Private area of the forum?

I am 100% for this idea.

The drama of seeing all these posts has been getting slightly irksome, especially because every person creating them contends that "they're not trying to get attention" by doing so. I also don't quite understand why it can't be handled in PMs, but with one thread devoted to all the goodbyes, it would be much less invasive.

Good idea!

Good idea, but people who make drama posts aren't going to comply and put their posts on a thread like that.

Ahhh, but then the mods can move them to the 1 thread, and they'd be all together rather than littered thoughout the forums, plus they would also only have the one place they can lock it when they deem time/appropriate.:)

If people want to leave, just leave, you don't need a big explanation. What happens is people say "I'm leaving" and then lurk for days to see what people are saying about them. Just go, don't let the door hit you in the ass when you go. Some people take things on an internet forum WAY too seriously. Remember where you are and that no one really knows you, and you don't know them. It makes it much easier to let things slide when you think that way.

I disagree. Chaz, like every other forum on the internet, gets intensely personal. How else to explain entire threads of photos of your dog and all your little Chaz buds saying deeply important things like "he's gorgeous!" and "wow, he's a super fur baby!" In it's own little way, it's a community, and when things go wrong the unhappy party's farewell shouldn't be considered trash. They were made unhappy here, they're leaving, let them go with some dignity.

I think I will just lock them. Let them drift away. I don't think we need a sticky of all the members that have left.

Personally I can't stand people that sit there whining about how they are leaving because so and so is such a bully and is so mean to them.

If someone wants to leave that is their choice and I wish them well, but it just screams victim mentality to read all these posts that say "Poor me, so and so is such a meanie. I am leaving forever because my feelings got hurt".

it is a bit silly. if some people have to leave due to illness or something worthwhile, then it's nice to say good-bye and such. but some of the dramatics are downright boring. now.......when I leave, I want a big party. good food, gifts, and a bit of spiced rum should do it. so, if you get all bored with me....that's what it's gonna take to get me out of your life. I never said I was easy or cheap. :) LOL

I bet a lot of these people later regret their woefull leaving speeches. They probly think back to the time they left the forum and feel embarassed at their own childishness.I think it`s just heat of the moment emotional venting,it should be like water off a ducks back for the rest of us.

Hey Debi !!! Please remember I'll only leave when I'm truly gone, or the kids " re-home " me without a computer !! Either way, I believe in a celebration of LIFE!! EliN can swing the party !

Well, I mean they should make a thread if they're leaving because of medical reasons or something else...but I agree, they don't need to make a thread. And people who get their feelings hurt here need to just take a break and see whatelse there is in life.

Can't we just have a time out thread without all the drama ?? We do have our favorites here and when we can't find posts we worry. Could it be run like a poll ??
