Ughh. So Anna's first litter was normal, no health problems what so ever. All 8 puppies lived and are healthy!

We bred her 2 heats later and she didn't take, we bred her again recently (she's 7 weeks) and she took! At 4 weeks we were going to get an ultra sound but the vet was at dobe nationals so we waited a few extra days, it was a bit hard to tell how many there were but she WAS pregnant, and the vet saw 4 skulls and hearts but she thought a 5th might be hiding.

Anyways, Saturday morning was the last time she ate a meal. She's been drinking a little bit but was throwing up all saturday and sunday. She was VERY dehydrated. We took her to our normal vet monday morning, he couldn't find anything wrong with her after blood tests and stuff. He said there might be a dead pup but he didn't have an ultra sound machine. He got two bags of fluids in her before we made the 3 hour trip just so she was stable to make it up.

When we got there we did another ultra sound and all the puppies were alive and healthy :) Did an xray, didn't look like a blockage but her intestines were swollen. And the gas didn't look like it had moved a lot since the first xray that our regular vet took. Ran more tests and her potassium and sodium was low so we put some in with a bag of fluids. And they wanted to keep her overnight so she would be there first thing in the morning but my mom didn't want her being left alone so she brought her back this morning (i guess it's wednesday now, but tuesday morning)

So yesterday/tuesday they had her on fluids the whole time. They got a few table spoons of food in her. And think she has stuffing in her stomach. It's not blocking anything though. She is staying the night and if she doesn't eat in the morning they are going to go in and remove the stuffing (or whatever it is)

I have never heard of surgery on a pregnant bitch. I really hope she doesn't have to have it and if she does that the puppies are ok, and most importantly, I hope she is safe and happy and feeling better.

Please keep your fingers crossed and anna in your thoughts. And if anyone has any experience with surgery on pregnant bitches please let me know about it.

it should be ok as long as they are aware she is pregnant, you do NOT want to loose the puppies and demand they are very carefull with anestesia.

luckily its in the stomach so think of it as doing work in a seperate room of the house.

the biggest concern is the puppies heartrates dropping while under but as long as they properly monitor and keep doses as low as posible it should be fine.

She ate this morning then threw up again :(

She just went in for surggery, about an hour. The vet said she can save Anna but not sure about the puppies. Fingers crossed. Anna's definetly the most important, but I hope the pups are ok too.

She's doing ok. Shes not allowed to move at all for a while. Not sure about the puppies yet, if they are alive or not. My mom is bad at giving updates D:
