I have a Dachshund mini, who we got on Sept 3 2005 when he was about 8 weeks old, since I don't know his exact "birthday", we using the day we got him (09/03/05)

Is it stupid to celebrate the dogs birthday?

Assuming its NOT :D what are some good idea's for a puppy's birthday party?
he doesn't have any puppy friends :( but I have a 3 year old nephew, when they visit us and my nephew and the puppy play its the cutest thing you'll ever see... they chase EACH OTHER most of the time, the pup chases him, then he'll chase the pup- all while the dogs tail is wagging so I know my nephew isnt annoying him - they are legitimately playing with each other (I feel anyways)

We were thinking of getting a bone shaped cake, though I don't know if a dog can eat "cake"? What would some other doggie birthday idea's be?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating your dog's birthday! Zeus got a special outing and an ice cream cone on his birthday. There are also recipes online for birthday cakes for dogs.

When Tira turned 2 years old this past July we made peanut butter & cracker appetizers. It was regular crackers with peanut butter on top and a piece of puppy jerky on top of the peanut butter. We also had peanut butter dog bone sandwiches (1 dog bone, peanut butter & another dog bone). There was also crackers with tuna and puppy jerky strips on top. I made them and put them in the freezer so it would take longer to eat. Tira and Gunner both loved them!
I have heard you can buy doggie birthday cakes from those dog food maker stores (or whatever they are called).

I am so excited for Lucy's 1st birthday! I'll probably buy little party hats. :p
And order lots of yummy stuff from The Dog Bakery, too: http://www.threedog.com/

She'll get new toys, too...:D

Yeah, definitely not stupid to celebrate. :p

Next month I get to celebrate my rat's 2nd birthday. ;)

Glad to hear all the support for doggie birthdays. My wife is convinced I'm going nutz, or that my male-biological clock is ticking, because I've been focusing so much time on Stogie.

Something tells me there will be banners, hats and a cake.... and I'm pretty sure there will be lots of pictures taken too ;) I'd be willing to bet some of them will make their way here
